Anyone using this particular pack? http://www.eberlestock.com/G4%20Operator.htm

My business partner presented me one as a gift and it is being shipped as I type.

I'll probably end up using it for when I leave my base campsite and go to set up a one/two night spike camp for deer/elk.

However, I'm seriously considering dumping the contents from my current longer duration wilderness bag that I use for 3+ days in the wild

Looks like I can do a lot with it. Just curious if anyone has a history with this particular bag.

*raises hand* It has sat in my closet the last 2 years as a combat bugout bag. Right now it's stuffed with about 150 pounds for long term survival, IE civil or nuclear war, yellowstone erupts, I get sick enough of civilization in general to pull an "Alone in the Wilderness", you name it. The pack makes 150 pounds weigh like 75, and it's nice being able to carry three full sized firearms (Wilson Combat UT-15, Remington 700 Sendaro and Benelli Nova 12 guage) that wear like a small pistol. I switch out the ammo, batteries, water and food periodically but for the most part it doesn't see the light of day. I think I have around 15,000 dollars in that pack, which is three times more money than I made in the last year, and all the gear inside is prestinely new and most of it is better than what I use on an everyday basis. I built it when I was making a buttload of money and I don't want to touch it unless I have to so that it's ready to go when I need it. One day I'll make enough money to replicate it for recreation, but for now it's my contingency plan.

PS Glen Eberle is one of the coolest guys on the face of the planet. He's a biathlon GOD and his shop is within a mile of my place.

Payette you are a lucky man.

I wish they had had that pack available when I was in the Corps.

I was in the Air Force when I pieced it together, I was making more money in incentive pay than I was on my base salary so I started putting the incentive pay towards this kit. It didn't take too long to build up. And yeah, it beats the HELL out of dragging around 150 pounds in a squeaky ALICE, that's for damn sure.

payetterucker, man ya gotta show us some pics of the kit on that level,I too have been drooling over that pack.

The idiot that signed the contract for ALICE should be charged with crimes against humanity.:grumpy::p

One of the premier pack makers stuff is supposed to be absolutely built like a tank and bombproof. You lucky dog.

It IS bombproof, and built like a tank. Definately not a pack for the weight weenies, I believe the entire system itself weighs 9 pounds, but it's worth it. The thing is like stone and brick walls for your gear. For a long term survival situation, or if you spend most of your life in the woods, this pack is simply a must. I should have taken pics of the thing last week, I had it all spread out to go through the inventory and function check everything.

Haha, I can thank the ALICE for my awesome physical shape, that's for sure. People give me crap for packing so much weight even with severe arthiritis but they don't have a clue because most of them have never had to pack an ALICE with a military load for any length of time... 50 pounds in an ALICE pack feels like 150 in a decent internal frame...
