I haven't posted a knife for a while but I've been busy. Most of November was spent making sheaths but I did a couple stock removal O1 knives to keep the grinding skills alive and I forged a small hunter in 1095 after watching Lin Rhea's youtube video.
I've been refining my forge as well trying to get control of the temperatures for precise heat treating.

I've also been working on a project that is tougher than I imagined, converting a 2¾" 52100 bearing into a knife... by hand. :o

Anyway, I have been working on this one and just finished it this morning.

It's Aldo's W2 forged and heat treated a la specs shared with me by an anonymous mentor. :p He also kindly shared some hamon making advice but I haven't practiced enough yet.

Blade is 6¹⁄₈" from guard to tip and a hair over 11" OAL. It's about ⁹⁄₃₂" at the ricasso.
Handle is Ebony with 416SS fittings and pin.

Does the polished clean handle go with the brut de forge ricasso? Not sure but it's kinda fun.

I keep discovering how hard it is to make a nice handle.

Going to make the sheath this afternoon.

Hope you like it.

I hope you have that vid of you whacking that giant bearing with a 20 lb. hammer hosted somewhere - most entertaining! :D

This is a really cool looking knife Stuart and I don't doubt it will serve some lucky customer very well indeed.

That's real nice, Stuart, and I think the brut de forge sets off the handle and blade finish just fine.

Thanks alot everyone. Your comments mean a great deal to me.

I didn't get to the sheath this afternoon... had some family time with the kids in the woods. Tonight I hope...

Dunno why... but I am mesmerized by the guard. It anchors those 2 perfect components so well. Thanks for sharing.

Love this one Stuart!! PM me if this one is for sale or what I would have to do to obtain one similar to this one. :D
