Wow, beautiful job Stephen but don't be getting too much better, you are near to working your way right out of my budget by the looks of it.

I've been getting pretty consistent 59-60 out of this W2 (got it from Don Hanson)

That's a damn good lookin' knife, Stephan!! Nice work.

thanks all of you for the compliments, I truly appreciate them.

(this knife is listed in the for sale forum. fyi)

Very nice. Love how that hamon turned out. I've got five W2 blades I recently forged out and heat-treated - I hope they turned out half as nice as this.

Thanks
personally it's not my favorite, I like much deeper valleys.

this was to be an order knife and the customer asked that I do a more traditional shape to the hamon.
then he saw the matched set and couldn't help but switch over to those. which put this one up for sale.

it's a crazy world we live in, ehh

how's that flitz been working out for you?

Hmmm, the Flitz... Well, I've got some Flitz and Simichrome and some other stuff from the auto parts store. Kinda playing around with a lot of things. Don't really have the "perfect" hamon polishing system going yet. Despite Nick Wheeler's WIP on the subject, I just have not put in the elbow grease/time yet. And taking a working kitchen knife up to 2500 grit first is a bit much, as a it kinda scratches easily at that level of polish.. Not that I won't, but I haven't yet.

Stephan, I don't want to de-rail your thread here, so do you have any threads going on elsewhere on this topic?
