Well I finally saved up enough cash after forking over a premium for my Lochsa and I called up CRK to get on the list for an Large Ebony Damascus Sebenza...only to find out they do not offer Ebony wood anymore...:(

So I settled on an African Blackwood....but 20 minutes later I was surfing the CRK dealers and came across the only Large Ebony I could find at onlyfineknives....so I ordered it that instant! And called CRK back up to change my order to just a Damascus replacement blade.

I'm sure glad I found the Ebony because I wanted the darkest wood possible and even in sunlight the Ebony barely shows any brown, just stunning!

Now if I can handle the 6-12 month wait for the Damascus....

Pictures do not do any justice to this Ebony wood...plus I wasn't sure if I wanted gold accents...but it actually works great with the dark wood and the polished parts of the handles.

I also noticed that the s35vn steel sure sharpened up in a hurry...hopefully this isn't any indication of edge retention.

CRK used to offer Maccasar Ebony, which is different than the African Blackwood.

Isn't ebony and african blackwood the same?

They are similar but still different. Ebony is darker almost black and very hard wood almost brittle while african black is lighter but still fairly dark and softer wood but stronger.

I wanted the darkest wood possible and ebony is perfect!
