I went to the ECCKS today with a handful of knives in mind to look out for- a couple being either a Todd Begg Bodega or one of the new friction folders. Since I figured most would be snatched up on Friday, I wasn't getting my hopes up too much. As I went up to the table, I was very pleasantly surprised to find several Bodegas left. Turns out, this was the first year Todd was selling directly from the table and not exclusively through the lotto. Unfortunately, I was just short on cash this year for a Bodega since they all had DLC coated components. Then, looking to the end of the table, I saw one of the friction folders left! I was SURE they would be gone and man, am I glad I was wrong. I kept looking at the WIP thread and the pictures don't even begin to represent how well done they are. Todd's fit and finish is just impeccable and the attention to detail is equally impressive. Its just an awesome, awesome piece but this one has a bit of a story behind it. The heat coloring in the fuller happened completely by accident when there was gap in the envelope used for heat treating the blades. Since it turned out very evenly, Todd decided to leave it. This is the only one out of the six with the colored fuller. Todd said he's not even sure if he can replicate this result. Incredibly happy to have grabbed this one! It was awesome talking to the Begg crew to begin with (they're all such cool guys) but leaving with a piece was the icing on the cake. I also picked up the stingray zipper pouch from Adam Unlimited to carry the folder in and a Gathering IV challenge coin from a dealer buddy of mine. Really looking forward to carrying and using this guy. The last picture is just a shot of all the stuff myself and two friends picked up. I actually ran into Arjung from the forums (victorinoxfan on YT) and hung out with him for quite a bit and also met a few other YT/forum guys- always fun meeting new people at these shows.
