The ECCKS show wasn't a total loss. ;) Sorry for the large image files, but you really have to see the steel in detail to appreciate it.
Your eyes are not deceiving you, the Damascus on both knives is from the same billet, which Steve & Harvey made together.
It was SUPPOSED to be tradition feather pattern Damascus according to Harvey Dean, MS until "Steve Dunn, MS messed it up" by compressing the billet a bit more zealously on on side. LOL!
Like all talented MSs they quickly renamed the NEW pattern "RUFFLED Feather Damascus" I think the pattern, particularly on the Dunn, reminds me of a big wave in Hawaii, Surfs up!
The Dean reminds me of a personal fighter that could be used by Poker players to deal with cheaters. so I have named it the "All In" Fighter
Damascus is truly wonderful because it can always surprise. I am incredibly pleased by the result.

"Surfs Up!" Fighter by Steve Dunn, MS 6.5" blade 13+" overall with stainless fittings, amber stag and engraving by Steve Dunn.

(The dark line at the bottom of the tip is my ugly reflection)

Here is the "Choil Shot" for STeven G.

Peter You did Great the Name is Pefect
You Forgot to announce the news though...
Harvey Dean is now a Member of the AKI Art Knife Invitational
he got the news yesterday Steve Dunn and I noticed Harvey's Hat seemed about 2 sizes to small...
Congratulations Harvey well deserved Honor!

What a terrific pair those make! I really love that pattern. Apart from Messrs. Dean and Dunn, is anyone else doing it?

Roger

Pete, just incredibly beautiful.... I don't see much "ruffled" about them, I think they're just perfect!

Congrats, a truly pretty pair!

I have come to the conclusion that I like these knives a great deal. I do not think they are ugly, and though I don't know what they sold for, I also doubt that they were overpriced.

No question about it, beautiful patterns.
Are you going to post more showing both entire knives?

There's that choil thing again   ;)
Hey, I like it. :D

Beautiful scores Peter! No wonder you're parting with the Williams, I figured you needed good cause. Glad you had a successful trip to NY and I hope you had a great time there!

Very nice, Steve Dunn is a great guy to deal with. I hope to be able to say the same about Mr Dean soon!:D

I love the damascus pattern. Makes the blades look alive!

Its neat that they are related.

Cheers,

Stephen

Nice knives! Were they sold as a set or did you get lucky? Glad to see they are staying together in the same collection.

Pure dumb luck. Harvey's knife was a delivery that I was expecting, but I actually hadn't seen. Dunn's Fighter was a last minute arrival for the show.
I am thinking of having Steve engrave the Dean in a similar style to the Fighter.

Sounds like a good plan to me. And a display together would be nice too.

I happened to spot Peter at the Dean/Dunn corral 30 minutes into the show. He had his glasses off and was looking at the pattern from about 4" away. Even from afar, I knew it was a Dunn deal.

Nice seeing Riad as well. ECCKS was a blast.
