Was' up guys? Nothing about the ECCKS? Usuallly, there's lots of discussion about who's going to be there and what you saw. Did I miss it? I was there today. Sparse crowd. I was told that it was somewhat better over the weekend. Some good knives and lots of great people, but when I got there at 11:00, a bunch of tables had closed down. By 1:00, when I left, a large percentage were gone. They shouldn't be charging full admission if the place is not really exhibiting. I was also haunted by the many people not there: Phill Hartsfield, Frank Centofante, Gary Shaw, Clem Sabourine, Dan Valois, Yvonne Vachon, etc. In addition, there are a bunch who have been ill and couldn't be there. You're all in our thoughts and our hearts.

I've heard from quite a few that it was pretty active on Friday so-so on Saturday and a lot of great knives and fun.

I think what it boils down to is there's not much reason to extent most knife shows (with the exception of Blade Show) past Saturday.

Not sure this speaks directly to Eccks and the activity there, but I've been told by three "major players" (read that as big time buyer-collectors) that they will only go to two shows this year.

The show was fun. I saw alot of my knife buddies. Saw a bunch of nice stuff and picked up a Cliff Parker folder (See, I still love folders). I was drooling over Larry Fuegens folder the whole time and could not put it down. He had the biggest dragon folder thingy that I recall seeing. Those aren't for me though. Elizabeth Loerchner had really cool stuff and I wanted to talk to her about it but things were crazy and I forgot. Steve Dunn had cool folders with nice mosaic steel that I like. There was a cool dean push dagger. Umm, what else.. I saw a GORGEOUS Fuegen dagger that wasn't on any table. One of the nicest out there I would think.

I was there all day Friday and for some reason I never pay attention to the amount of people at shows so I could not tell you how attendance was. All I know is all knife shows and the amount of attendees seem very dwarfed after regularly going to the blade show.

I MUCH prefer driving to Manhattan for the show. You might ask yourself whats worse then driving to manhattan.. The answer is driving to jersey city. Manhattan drivers are like saints compared to jersey drivers. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks on parking in a garage in Manhattan then drive into jersey city again. Hear that show promoters??

Something interesting to me at least.. I saw a knife there on a well known makers table that was a copy of my amber stag Hancock hunter. I HAD to ask the maker about it because I knew immediately that it was based off only my knife in particular. The maker explained that he had permission from Tim to make a knife based on that one after he saw it in David Daroms book on Hancock. So I am not bringing this up as a bad thing. I think its pretty cool actually. I wouldn't have minded putting adding the knife to my collection and putting it next to the Hancock. But hey, i was broke so oh well.

Did anyone see me on Friday??
