Hey guys,

There have been a couple different threads with concerns over the blades of the Ecolite 110's and 112's being too stiff, lacking closing snap or just plain sticking open. Jeff Hubbard had mentioned in the most recent conversation that Buck was aware of and issue and had a couple of design improvments in the works. It appears they are ready to go. I recieved a new 110 Ecolite yesterday that has the improvements. Here are some pics(New style is always appears as top knife pictured)

I emailed Jeff, who said there were 2 modifications, "The mods are 1. Added washers between the blade and
liners to reduce the friction (improving action). 2. Added washer headed
rivet for improved riveting consistency and also to improve action.
Please let us know how it works out."

When I got my original 110 eco, it had stiff travel right out of the box but a little Hoppes gun oil fixed her right up and has been smooth since. The 112 provided a little more of a challenge. It went back to Buck but upon return still had a little residual sticking. A thorough cleaning-oiling, cleaing and then sitting for a couple days with a heavy dose of oil to the pivot, finally smoothed it out and it has been good.

This 110 was smooth right out of the box and shows no indication it will need any different treatment than a traditional 110 or other folding lockback would. I intend to give er a good work out to check it out:thumbup:

Fritz, nice pics and info... I don't have one these yet... Hope to get one of each someday... ITE

They are worth your while Armand, nice knives. I'm sure there will be a small collection that include them somewhere in your future:D

Check em out at the Prosite, they're pretty cheap. Gotta love the BCCI

That's an old picture that I posted when I came back from my fishing vacation earlier this year. I used it again because it's the only picture that I have of the Bucklite Max. :)

Old Ecolite 110 pivot pin vs current Bucklite 486 110 pivot pin:

A more perfect pivot pin. Huh, well, okay, uh we will see. How about adjustable screw pivots on these?

Both knives have sticky blades. I much prefer a tight pivot vs a loose one. These are pinned knives and perfection of blade movement is achieved via wear. Once worn then lube.

I've tried to peen a rivot pin and the correct strike evaded me. Buck does a heck of a job on these pivots IMHO. The european knife kit that I tried to assemble via peening pins, including the broken bits, is still up on the roof. Where it will remain. :thumbdn:

I took Fritz's advice on the 'clean and letting it set' regimine and that seems to have solved the problem. Now I need to get a green Eco 110 and my sets complete

Fritz, I like them when they first came out... I will have to get them off the bay... These guys in San Diego, only have older knives in there collections...
