Hi!

Trying to find some information concerning Ed Fowler's knives, preferably his own website. (if there's such a thing)

Any help appreciated!
TIA

There have been several recent threads about Ed Fowler knives in the custom forum. Check them out.

Ed does not have a web site that I am aware of. His knives are highly prized and rarely appear on the secondary market, but they do pop up from time to time.

Good luck with your search!

stupid me!

Anyway, i got a small neck knife as a gift from a friend.
It's marked "Fowler" and i'd like to have some idea on an approximate value on it. And/or availability.

As an added note there are "at least" two Fowler's that are well known and make knives. One is Ed Fowler whom you mentioned and the other is Ricky Fowler (who does have a website). My guess, if you have a neck knife marked "Fowler" is that it is a Ricky Fowler knife. Ed inscribes his knives with just his initials. Ricky Fowler makes really nice, working grade knives in such steels as O-1 and often blackens the blades. You might try getting in touch with him.

Hey Hoss! thanks for the input!
I did check out Ricky Fowlers site and the knife that i've got looks a lot more like his designs then the other Fowler.

This place is great

There are two Fowlers that I know of, both fine knifemakers.
Ed Fowler is an ABS Master Smith who writes a regular article in Blade magazine called Knife Talk, he also has a book by the same name. Ed is on the quest for the ultimate High-Performance knife. I recently did a review here of a video that Ed did of him taking a ball of 52100 steeel and turning it into one of his signature knives the "Prong horn".

Ed, has no website, and a considerable backlog of orders.

Ricky Fowler (no relation that I know of) offers over 200 standard patterns, with a quick turnaround on orders. Rick does have a website.

If it's a neck knife, I can pretty much guarantee it's not Ed's. As Phil said, Ed's mission is the ultimate high performance knife, some of us think he's mighty close.

Yo!

I'm pretty sure that it's not Ed's

Thanks all for the help!
Only bad thing is that it opened my eyes for Ed Fowler's knives, more makers to spend money on

Jonas, this link should put you over the top about ordering one of Ed's knives.

Ed, does do a model called a "Fawn" with a 2" or 3" blade, that might just do it for you as a neck knife.

While you're waiting talk to Ricky, he'll fix you up in short order.

Add me to the list of those who yearn for a Fowler knife. i would love to put onr through my demanding "Test and Review" regimen.

If you get a chance to get an Ed Fowler knife, grab it. He pioneered 52100 and basically invented the heat treat technique for it. He marks his knives with a backward capital E and a forward capital F connected to each other. I don't know of either a web site or email address for him, but usually see him at the Riverton Rendezvous.
