Ed Fowler

yeah Ed :D Take it slow buddy!!

The 17th of this month was day 41 after surgery. I Went to Salt Lake for a check up by my Doctor. He said that I am healing right on schedule, opened the physical therapy up to more motion and congradulated me for doing just what I was told. I am going to get back to making knives, it will happen! He said it was OK to get out of the pillow sling, but go slow!

I am going to try to forge a small blade out of an antique hay rake tooth, just because it is the smallest stock I have on hand and something I have wanted to explore for years. The selected hammer is a very old one and only weighs a few ounces, maybe 10. If the first hit works, I will go further, but am taking it slow.

I got the photos of the Pronghorn and B2, beautiful, never figured one of my daughters would get in that kind of outfit.

I can type now for about an hour, then it is nap time.

Thanks for remembering me friends.

Ed,

Don't push it too much, just enough to get a little better each day.

Gus

Also hoping your recovery is coming along well and you are doing fine.

More update:
Shoulder is healing much quicker than the folks at physical therapy figured it would. Yesterday I forged my first knife out of 1/4 inch round stock. It was great, but could not do more. It has been like a big part of my life gone, not being able to do anything but therapy and sleep. My advice to all is to make every moment you have count! Don't waste a second as you never know when it will end. This has been a real lesson for me, 4 experimental bars just lay and wait my return. I look at them and wonder what they have to teach me. It will be at least another two months before I can get back to serious work (with luck). At least I did make the knife of my dreams (at that time) before the final injury and surgery. She is not for sale, but will be at Blade Show West. A friend tells me I talk a lot in my sleep, to folks named Moran, Scagel, Harvey Draper, Ruana, Richtig, etc. Sure wish I could remember what we were talking about.
