I'm hoping someone will recognize this knife or at least the handle material.
it was an ebay purchase, lot of 2, i was after the other knife.
searching "Ed Kalfayan knives" shows me numerous examples of his work, but nothing like this pattern.

7 1/8" OAL, but not really a "little" knife, rather, beefy. the in-hand fit with index finger through the hole is perfect and gives one a sort of 'invincible' feeling.
i realize that Mr. Kalfayan's work is not considered "high end" but i would like to learn a bit about this knife if possible.
first, is there a name for this pattern ?
is this a pattern Mr. Kalfayan made mutliples of ?
app. age ?
and finally, what is the handle material ? it is heavy and has an irregular longitudinal grain. i hope the pics help.
thanks, roland

1. Don't know the pattern, call Ed if possible.

2. It IS a pattern he made multiple copies of.

3. First one that I saw like this was in the early '90's.

4. The handle material is Ivory micarta, but it doesn't really turn yellow.

Best Regards,

Roland,
I used to see a lot of Kalfayan knives on ebay from a seller named sandman3 (or something close to that). They always looked well made.

A while back I saw somewhere Ed was retiring from knifemaking, then more recently saw he was making just a "few" knives per year.

STeven's advice was probably your best bet.

Peter

Rich, and all, thank you. i will contact Ed. i was unable to find his email which is why i posted here.
