Does anyone know of a custom knife maker by the name of Ed Long or Ed Lang? I found a nice little custom fixed damascus blade with very intricate spine filework. Ed Lang or Long is signed on tang but the black ink is hard to read on a damascus blade. Judging from the leather sheath, this blade is probably at least 20 years old at a guess. Will try to post pics but having problems getting that done. Thanks, ddm

Maybe Ed Lary? He did a lot of fancy stuff in damascus with filework.

Thank you, but I don't think that is it. The signature I am dealing with is a cursive signature almost as if blade was signed with an ink pen. Still having technical issues with uploading pics but will post pics as s soon as I can. Another knife maker thinks he vaguely remembers an Ed Lang from the 1980's but can't remember details.

The signature on the Ed Lary knife above looks very similar to what you are describing. Look right in front of the bolster on the middle image in the pic. Appears to be a cursive signature. Looks upside down to me but .....
J. Doyle I still can't really make out the signature in the picture tiff posted, but you are both right it is Ed Lary. I came across a 2017 post about two buck pocket knives. There was a third knife included in the pictures that was my knife. It was identified as Ed Lary. Believe its Ed M Lary of Mosinee, WI.

Post I found was 1/27/2017 by meadeam. There is a link to imgur with pic of knife (at bottom past buck pics). It may even be the knife I have. Damascus pattern looks identical. No activity by meadeam after 2019. Meadeam, if you are out there please send me a message. Interested to see if the man whose estate I'm handling was the one who purchased your Ed Lary in 2017.
