EDC 154CM - 4 Questions For Will

I got my 4, and they're really nice. Great bargain.

1-Are the o-rings the same kind as those used in airguns (neoprene or urethane)? If so, owners must not use penetrating oil on those or they will swell and become useless.

2-One of the knives has a 1/4 inch sliver hanging off one of the o-ring. Can I get a replacement?

3-The blade of the same knife is quite a bit off-center. Is this something I can adjust? If so, how?

4-The framelock of the same knife only goes about 1/2 of the way in back of the blade when open. The other 3 are almost all the way over. Should I try pushing/bending the framelock over?

I am very satisfied with the knives overall. The one must have slipped through with the minor items I mentioned. I'm sure others would want to know the answers to these questions also since they'll probably keep these knives for a long time. I know I will!

Director,
Before Will takes a crack at this, I'd like to try and clarify one point. When you mention "o-rings", are you referring to the white blade pivot bushings which separate the blade from the handles? If so, you won't have to worry about any common lubricating oils compromising this material. If not, please explain where these o-rings are located on your knife.

Director,
First off, thanks for being a customer! I'm not sure of the composition of the O ring [off the top of my head], and I'm checking into that now, but I know that none of the solvents or oils that we tested adversly affected the O ring. I'm also not sure what you mean by " 1/4 inch sliver " with relation to the O ring. A piece of the O ring , or something else? Yes indeed, this could effect whether the blade falls down the center of the knife, and also how far the lock travels over. Also, when you mention replacement, do you mean the O ring or the whole knife?

Rest assured, we will take care of you one way or another. I find that in cases such as this, we can get to solution and better understanding faster, if we talk on the phone. If you will email me your phone #, I'll call you ASAP. Day or night, just let me know! My email addy is ...

I look forward to talking to you!

Wow, talk about a swift response!

Yes, I am talking about the bushings that the blade turns on. One o-ring has a piece of it that has somehow got sliced and is hanging on. Maybe it happend when the knife was assembled. I just didn't want to cut it off without asking.

Will, I was only talking about the o-ring not the entire knife. I don't have a torx set to take it apart yet, but I'll probably get one. I know only silicon based oil is supposed to be used on the o-rings of airguns, so that's why I asked the question.

I also had trouble posting this message so it ended up on the Review & Custom forum so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could delete the other 2 posts. Sorry!

Hi all, I just received my two EDCs in 154CM day before yesterday. One plain, one combo-serrated. Wonderful blades at a bargain price! However, I have noted a similar situation that Director has mentioned with regards to the combo-edged knife. Though I havent noticed any slivers on the pivot, the blade rides close to the left side of the liner(thats if holding the blade in ones hand in the normal forward positon). Also the clip was very much loose, didnt "bite" on anything. I fixed the clip bite with my torx kit, but havent had the time nor inclination to start fooling with the blade. The lockup is good, but not quite as tight as the plain edged one, which is flawless. Any suggestions as to fixing this utilizing a torx kit? Is it easy to do? Or do I have to go thru the trouble of sending it in?

I had a great conversation with Will the other day.

The sliver of the teflon bushing that was hanging is now gone with no ill effects. There is a black o-ring under one bushing, but Will couldn't say yet whether or not it is prone to swelling like the ones used in airguns.

Will mentioned that all of the screws are hex type except for the clip which is held by 3 T6 torx screws.

I haven't gotten around to trying to tighten the pivot screw with my hex tool, but Will said that a 1/4 turn ought to center the blade. Even though Will was very anxious for me to send the knife in to be done by them, I will try it myself first.

Very impressed with Will, the knife, and the company!
