hi all,
I think ive made up my mind on my next every day carry fixed knife. I cant seem to make up my mind between the Deer Hunter or the Bird & Trout from A.G. Russell. Anyone have experience with a smaller knife such as the Bird & Trout in every day use, is there really a sacrifice in functionality, reliability or life span with the smaller frame? Or is it worth the less comfort and higher visibility of the larger?
Other uses will include occasional light camp chores, small to medium game, a white tail in there now and again.
I know this has been brought up before but for everyday use should i go
VG-10 or D2...
thnx for the help

Palehorse,
I like my hunting /utility knives with a blade not much bigger than 3".This size, seems to be good for me.I like D-2,but the VG-10,is probably pretty good also. The DEER Hunnter,is a nice set-up.I used to keep one of these as a back-up knife,in my hunting gear,it was AUS-8.I always wanted to get a Bird and Trout, but never did.A few good things about these knives - the steel is thin,so it is a good cutter/slicer,and the "thumbollt"sheath set up is good, all things to consider, for the asking price of those knives. The blade size is gonna come down to you,but I'd bet,if you are not too big on "BIG GAME",The Bird and Trout, should be a good all around knife, for what you are saying you need it for.
