EDC at Disneyland

Anyone EDC a knife at Disneyland (Anaheim, CA) before? I haven't been in years and I will be going there tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone knows if they have metal detectors or pat downs or anything of that sort.

We just got back from Disneyland (California, of course) and I was worried that there would be metal detectors to walk through and all that, so I did not bring my EDC the first day ( an Ontario Rat 1, btw). All there is is tables you have to pass by and the workers look thru backpacks, but no patdowns, no metal detectors, no nuthin. So the 2nd and 3rd day I EDC'd Disneyland. Truthfully, with a bit of sneakyness, I bet someone could get a handgun thru in a backpack if they picked a pack with lots of compartments and picked a place that required a bit of time to get to by the table-inspectors. There are just tons of people going in and they don't have time to body-cavity search everyone, thankfully. I would of EDC'd one of my ZTs, but took a cheapy but goodie in the RAT 1 just in case I had to ditch it or something. Go and have a good time, we had a blast at both california adventures and at DL.

Yes you go through a security check point. They mostly check your bags. Once I went through and a security supervisor saw the clip in my pocket and asked about the knife. It was a large Sebbie tanto. She told me to go back to my car and put the knife away. I went part way back, slipped the knife in my back pocket with no clip showing and went through security no problem. So if you take your knife don't let the clip show. Taking it back to your car is a real pain as you need to take a tram back to the parking structure. They mostly check fanny packs and backpacks. They don't rape you like they do at the airport but they are mostly looking for guns. Once in the park I go back to clipped to the pocket and have not had any problems but you need to be aware that DL has very sophisticated security. I have a cousin whose wife is high up in security at DL (disneyland) and she told me that before you even get in the park you've been checked over about three times. They have cameras everywhere and plainclothes security so the key would be to be descrete. I live near disneyland and and go frequently and have always had a large sebbie with me. They don't want to cause you problems and they are cool with it as long as you aren't foolish. The key is just getting by the first checkpoint and the guy that screened me didn't notice it was a supervisor. In orange county folding knives to 4 inches are legal but frowned upon and it depends on the security person that you deal with. If you're cool they will be cool. If you're a gangbanger with an atitude Anaheim PD will gladly take you into custody. And they will believe me. Having a knife there is nice if your kid gets a toy its easy to cut it out of its packaging with a sebbie. OK well maybe the length isn't four inches but I think that 3 inches in LA but orange county I believe is more lenient but we all know that it's not the knife but how you are acting that matters. I work in LA and take the train through Watts and south central everyday and I always have a large sebbie clipped to my pocket and frequently come in contact with the sheriffs deputies asking for tickets and checking for trouble makers. I've never had a problem, I'm just a regular guy trying to get to work and they seem to be happy to let me be.:eek:

I go to Disneyland all the time. Season pass holder. Was just there last Sunday. Delica 4 in the pocket, clip fully exposed. No questions asked. Either they didn't notice, or the wife and kids made them not worry or care. The Al Mar SERE 2000 has also made a few trips around the park.

I had the exact same thing happen to me the last time I was at DL, only it was a guy who saw my clip. He told me I'd have to get rid of the knife before I could enter the park so I walked away from the checkpoint, hid the knife in my pocket, and got into a different line at the checkpoint with no problems. I've read that the DL security force is larger than the Anaheim police department and I can believe it.
