I feel its time for a new EDC, but im still a bit unsure on what to get. I'm thinking about a Benchmade Model 551 - Griptilian with S30V or a 940 Osborne with 154CM. The other was the Spyderco Police plain edge with VG-10 or in ATS-55. also for the spyderco which steel is better the VG-10 or the ATS-55.

Spyderco VG10 I got several knives in VG, like them a lot. EDC today is the stretch........Steel gets sharp on sharpmaker and stays sharp, lot longer than blades in ATS 34 that I got.
I dont have any ATS 55 blades so to them I cant compare.
ergonomically, as far as grips go I like the FRN handles more so than the griptillan
Police mod not my fav ...... but everybody has thier own opinion, likes etc...
look at Celefonte I like the blade shape and handle grips on it...
I am noticeing that I am starting to like knives I can choke up on... like the finger choil...
Good knife hunting

I would go with Spyderco in VG-10. The ATS-55 seems to be a little bit more rust prone than the VG-10.

These are three quite different knives. I think the steel should be the least of you concerns in this decision. S30V, VG-10, 154CM and ATS-55 are all good steels. Given the choice, I would prefer the former two but would be quite happy with any of them. Can't help you with the rest though. To me these three are so different from each other that I find it hard to compare them. Personally, I would go with the Griptilian for EDC, but really my choice would be more along the lines of the Manix/Mini-Manix or Military/Paramilitary. Each to their own I guess.
