OK like the title says please give me some ideas....

I like coated knives.... so I dont know what they offer as I am learning and loving Busse's

I wish I could carry my recently purchased NMSFNO but it's just a little too intimidating for most folks..(thats what I love about it).

Thanks

David

Sigh. So many, many choices. A few:

Game Warden
Active Duty
Cultellus
Meaner (various varieties -- Mean Street, Meaner Street, Leaner Meaner Street, and etc.)
Anorexic Boss Street (various varieties coming very soon ... such as CABS)
Badger (various varieties)
SAR3 or 4
INFICoot (hard to find)

Keep in mind that newer choices tend to be cheaper (SAR4, Anorexic Boss Street).

...and that's just in INFI. There are excellent choices from SwampRat and ScrapYard, too.

There's plenty to choose from.:)

[RATS ... forgot the HACK.]

I like the Active Duty profile for EDC utility. For EDC/defensive, I like the BOSS Street series, available right now at the Busse website.

I dont EDC a Busse while in the city - Chris Reeve small Insingo for me (huge fan of modified wharnies)

When upstate, its a different story - I've owned a Game Warden, Active Duty and SAR3 and still prefer my Sus Scrofa to them all (sold them all but the SS)... just an overall fantastic blade shape for EDC tasks and in my opinion the most comfortable handle Busse ever produced (Same as the AD). Not too thick and a great slicer to boot! If self defense is your thing, I would assume this blade shape would also be the bees knees.

So... SUS SCROFA

Don't laugh guys, I'm serious!

I EDC a SAR 3 LE right now, and hopefully I can pick up a SLUT Street (maybe Duty) soon.

But if you like coated blades, the Game Warden is probably your best pick. I have held a coated leaner meaner street before and liked it, it just depends on how big you're willing to go.

That SAR3 is a good EDC size and it feels good in my hand. Don't recall any of them being coated and the one currently available at the company store is not coated either. I vote for the Boss Street LE that is currently available for order on the Busse Combat website. Not coated either but its a great looking knife and its very hard to buy one cheaper than from Jerry to start with. Coated, you might look at the Game Wardens or the Boss Street CG's. Look on the exchange for them. There are lots of choices: AD, Meaners, Culti's, and it goes on and on. Too bad you can't make it to Tulsa OK this weekend and feel a few before you buy.

Well Tulsa is out for me work weekends... plus the trip to Tulsa from Mass might be a little to long and expensive. I was gonna take some leave and try to make it for the Easton get together in PA but I was just informed I have training that week and cant get out of it.... I swear if I could have got some cool INFI in Easton I will be peturbed...:(

But really... may have to wait... good thing s come to those who are patient...

I currently carry a Kershaw S110v FOLDER until Busse comes out with theirs.

I'm going to try a CABS whenever it finally gets here in a IWB sheath from David Brown.

trailwolf - how do you sharpen your scrofa?

Spyderco Sharpmaker for the win.

I'm a HORRIBLE sharpener, but using the Sharpmaker, even with the curved SS blade, is easy as pie - easy to get it stupid sticky sharp...

I use the sharpmaker for all of my knives - including my Mistresses.

Don't forget the High Street and the Nuclear EDC. I swap out between a BAD, A High Street, and a MS. All are great for edc.

I do, I use a buy brown foldover sheath for it. It usually fits in the pocket nice.

+1 on the SAR3 w/ buy brown kydex. The pocket carry sheath is awesome. I tried edc'ing the AD and even though I liked its weighty feel in my hand I went right back to the SAR3.

Does anyone front pocket EDC their SAR3? Have a recommendation for a sheath for that?

I had a leathermaker make a sheath for my SAR 3. Its form fitting tight around the knife covering half way up the blade with no chance it will fall out. Unless you have a very good Kydex maker, I would go with leather to avoid any scratches. If I'm out in jeans and a shirt, I carry it on my waist. If in my business suit, I slip it in my front pocket handle first so the weight keeps it in the bottom of the pocket. My SAR-3 tends to shift in my pocket to a horizontal position, so the reason for placing it handle down first.

There are a lot of members selling the SAR 3 Nuclear Meltdown Satin finish. I just had mine resharpened by Garth b/c I had the Inspector 11. Now its slicing paper sharp, like new.

Here in town, I daily front pocket one of my thin Game Wardens in an Armoralleather BADASS sheath with my SAK hung in my back pocket from a monkey fist lanyard tucked under my belt. Anything larger, such as my Active Duty, BAD, BOSS Street or SAR-4, tends to attract too much negative attention. I also have a Culti in my office bag for food prep of apples, cheese, sausage; it's seen as a harmless kitchen paring knife. I save the larger stuff for the trail or for working at home in the garden or woodshop.
