Hey guys

I'll be heading to my folks place in Florida over the holidays. Will I be able to carry my OD-1 or my Tenacious?

TIA

From my understanding the knife laws are pretty lax in FL. I carry anything from automatics to fixed blades. No trouble.

Thanks for everone's help. Haven't been to Florida in about 35 years! One thing I remember is catching lizards - place was crawling with them. My Dad's taking me fishing, so that should be interesting. I only get to fish rivers and lakes up here.

What part of FLA will you be in?

Clearwater at my parents place for the first week, Disney World the second.

i don't show clips at DW, they're weird about everything. i don't know if they'd have a problem with it, or not, i didn't let it go that far. i ALWAYS move the folder to the waistband, in the parking lot.

i had a friend that worked for O.C.S.O. and he swears that deputies have arrested permit holders for packin at DW. i have read the statute, multiple times, and do not see how this is remotely legal. however, it does show an extreme weapons phobia at the park, so just be careful.

Welcome back to Fla.!

Please feel free to come and catch all the lizards you want. Just a word of warning though, they're bigger than they used to be and they bite HARD. We have an over-abundance of Iguanas and Monitors. Actually, there are several of Mother Nature's current production models to choose from. And, watch their tails. They tend to use them as a whip or a club and they freakin' hurt when they connect.
While your here, please feel free to venture out and take a few thousand of our now resident Pythons and Boas also. We have them in virtually every flavor now. Just be careful, because many can grow big enough to swallow sub-adult alligators, literally.

Really though, hope you have fun while your here. I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else. :D
A tip. Try to go to Disney World after Thanksgiving and NOT on the day before, during or after. You'll regret it big time. Unless you actually enjoy standing in quarter mile long lines waiting to get on a ride. Seriously...;)

Cool. Take zignal_zero advice about DW. They get weird about stuff and might not admit you or make you leave your knife in the car if they see it. I hope fishing goes well!

If they arrested me for that I'd be waiting for my FAT check. At most DW can refuse entry to a person for any reason. There is NOTHING in the statues that sides with being arrested for CCing at a place where they dont allow it. The business can trespass you and that's it.

zignal_zero,
Have you been to the parks recently?
They used to allow pocketknives of three inch blade length. I'm looking at getting the Annual Pass again and won't even bother going if they don't or they make you walk through a metal detector. I live in Marion County and that's quite a haul just to get disappointed.
Can you tell me?

Thanks for the welcome guys. We'll be at DW closer to Christmas, so that should be interesting. I'd love to take some of those lil fellas home, but don't think customs will be too happy about it ;)

you're preaching to the choire, bro, i told my boy "i pray someone is stupid enough to arrest me for carrying at DW". i KNOW it is NOT illegal, but he's telling me he KNOWS of arrests made for exactly that. i tell him i want to know the outcome, he left the agency before getting the details, which i really hope involved an acquittal, an apology, and some compensation (if it really was a CW arrest of a permit holder who was not causing a disturbance)

and to whoever mentioned the 3" limit. i really have no idea what DW's policies are. they just might allow pocket knives. i never bothered to ask, i figured it's easiest just to "oops" on through. different approaches, for everyone, but this has always worked best for me :) i just went back an re-read your question. while i don't know what their policy is, i do know what their screening is an NO - there are no walk thru's, wanding, or pat downs (that i saw). they just check "bags"

Thats insane...Too bad he wasnt with the dept long enough to find out what happened.

dru9 - I was heading back to my place from my GF's tonight and I saw a red Dodge Durango (while I stopped for gas) with Ontario plates on it.

I knew it wasnt you, but I almost wanted to offer them a knife for their Thanksgiving stay in FL :).
