EDC choice in M390

Hey All

I'd like an edc knife with a 3.5 in blade or less in m390 steel. I don't care what locking mechanism it uses or type of handle material and have a budget of 300$. Any suggestions out there?

The blue M390 Para 2 is supposed to be re-released. You could look for an M390 Griptilian as well.

if you can find a m390 mini grip you could get one for around $150.
there was only a limited run of 200 though

The AFCK would be a badass choice but they're way over 3.5 inches. I love mine, but it's a huge knife. The blue PM2 is awesome. I've been trying to find a decent price on one, though, and they get snatched up instantly.

Knifeworks has an exclusive Benchmade 710 in M390. You can also look around for the 581 Barrage, which was a limited run of 1000 in M390. Its not that hard to find. Both are relatively affordable and either one would make a great EDC.

Your best bet is going to be something from benchmade or a spydie para2. Off the top of my head, shoki, mpr, 710, afck, barrage, ares, mini grip and maybe a couple others have been done in m390, some are easy to find, others not so much. I personally can only speak for the ares and I can safely say it is absolutely outstanding. The htm ddr gunhammer is also available in m390 I believe. Good luck in your search, m390 is some pretty amazing stuff.

The AFCK is 3.9" blade. I wouldn't call that "way" over 3.5
Although I do see now that the OP is asking for 3.5 or less

but still. Benchmade AFCK.... m390..........best....knife...................................................ever.

I dont mind a little over 3.5. There are not many blades made from m390 it seems

I think the Spyderco Para2 is your best bet, but Benchmade makes 5 or more with M390. I like the 581 Barrage but IIRC it is slightly over 3.5" and its handle is fairly thick. You could buy 2 of the Barrages within your price range but only one of the Para2's. There are some Benchmade exclusives by one of the online retailers that are well within your price range.

Also consider that some of the CTS steels used by Spyderco are supposed to be equivalent to M390.

Darrel Ralph Gun Hammer in M390 is under 300. That's what I'm EDC'ing until I can get the forum knife in stonewashed S90V...

Benchmade 710, or Spyderco para2 if you can find them in M390... The 581 Barrage is a really nice knife, but the assisted opening is too much for me. It flys open way too hard so, I'd choose one of the other 2, preferrably para2.

I forgot to add that I've heard Spyderco runs thier steels a bit harder than most companies, so that might be another good reason to get the para2. But dont quote me on that

I sold (okay, traded, actually) my last Barrage.
I really like the 581, but between the handle girth and powerful deployment, there's no way would it replace the Para2 for daily carry.
