Hello all, this being my first post I ask you be gentle as I am only starting to become familiar with the shorthand the knife world uses.

Onto to the matter at hand. I am a college student and while on campus cannot carry a handgun so my fallback is on a tactical folder. Not to mention a knife is just handy. While I love my MOD CQD Mark I it's a bit to much folder for EDC making it hard to conceal or even fit in a waistband or pocket. So my delema now is what to buy for carrying on a normal basis. A few of my thoughts are below. If you have any other recommendations feel free to toss them in.
Also, for IWB carry lean is better... So any suggestions on that are wonderful as well.

Emerson Mini CQC7
Spyderco Centofante III
Benchmade Model 32 bali
Benchmade 960
Benchmade 921 Switchback
MOD A.T.F.K

Thanks for you thoughts

Thomas

I just got a Benchmade 530, it is a very thin and lightwieght knife that would be perfect for WB carry or back pocket carry. The Centofante sounds pretty cool also.

The Centofante is a very thin, smooth knife, and as such it wouldn't fall under most definitions of "tactical". If you are looking for a knife to replace a gun in self defence situations then there are plenty of threads with info to that extent. Offhand, I'd suggest Spyderco's Yojimbo. 3" blade, slim handle, strong lock. If you want a slim, unthreatening knife that you can carry IWB, the Centofante is great for EDC.

I recently purchased a Spyderco Caly III for EDC. I'm a college professor, so I can appreciate the need for a small, lightweight, discreet knife on campus. The Caly sits very low in my pocket and the bronze color clip blend in quite well with denim. I have yet to hear a comment about my knife from students or faculty. Make sure to check your student handbook rules for possessing a "weapon" on campus before you carry a knife to school.

The campus handbook reads something along the lines of it is illegal to carry with the intent to go "armed" so hence the reason for a knife the size of my Mark I a bit of a problem EVEN though it's blade isn't over 4 inches. So something slightly smaller and less noticable is important. I have talked to several UTPD officers and all of them have said knives are not a problem as long as they aren't excessively large or large fixed blades.
