Happy Monday BF

I consider myself a user/enthusiast but do have interest in collecting knives ive found rise above the rest in my eyes. Just cant wrap my head around having hundreds or thousands of dollars sit in a pelican case/safe exc.

Ive noticed cycles in my knife hobby.

There's the knife Aquisition cycle... most likely dopamine addiction/chase

Then comes the "there can be only one" cycle... The best of the latest aquisition or one previously purchased sticks around and the others get sold or traded.

Ill use the *best knife for a few months then the cycle starts over again when I get board of carrying the same thing every day.

Anyone else out there understand what im saying? If so what are your experiences?

There’s always a new knife that I’m in love with, but I don’t sign the divorce papers on older knives just because I don’t carry them often.

I have to not like a knife to sell it. I’ve sold too many because I didn’t carry them, only to regret that decision later down the line. Often times, the sold knives have increased in value over the years too.

Ah I am familiar with this too!
Lately ive been considering beginning to pick up those knives I liked but sold to justify the purchase of new one in attempt to break the cycle and continue moving forward rather than back and forth.

I guess another part of me misses the time long ago before my eyes had been opened to the world of edc/knife hobby where I just carried a kershaw everyday because that was my literal edc... The only one I had the only one I needed. Somehow having a trusted relationship to the tool. Sounds a little crazy but definitely a thing...

I guess I'm different. I only cycle them because some laws, company policy, and societal standards won't allow me to carry all of them, all of the time.
