Thought I'd try something different. The damascus is made from 244 layers of 1095, and 15n20 in a random twist pattern. Bolsters are brass as well as the pins. The wood is from Staburl and is dyed box elder that has been stabalized.

;)

:thumbup:I love it.What are the measurements?

Is it for sale?

Thank you for you compliment!

Well, I have young man just down the street from me who's just returned from Iraq having been serving there as a foot soldier for the last 14 months. He stopped in the other day as I was fitting this one up to say hello and let me know he got back home ok and he said "I really like the look of that". I told him it was a Wharncliff style and he'd never heard of it but, I could tell he really liked it. I thought about it as he looked the blade over and over and I figure since he did his part ... I'd do my part and I gave it to him. He lit up like a little kid with a new bike...it was the best payment I could have ever asked for on a blade- I loved it. He starts an Electrician apprenticeship soon and I know he'll get some use from it.

The cutting edge came in right at 3-3/8" and the overall length is 7-1/4". The width is 5/32" . This was a first time for me on this type of sheath too...it fit like a glove around that blade.

Wicked grinds! Love the braided lanyard too. Staburl does good work I get handle material from him when has stuff I like.

That was a real good thing you done.

I don't mind losing a knife to a soldier at all.

Gimme a 'heads up' when you start the next one!:D;)

I sure will, ya never know what comes off that bench of mine anymore...I've been doing some experimenting with different patterns in Damascus so, who knows what'll perk up!

Awesome thing you did for that soldier. That wonderful blade from a fine maker.

Great knife! Even nicer story to go along with it.

That pin in the bolster really set it off. Nice details without getting too fancy.

Thanks again for the compliments. I still am chuckling about the fella on one of the rant post who said a lanyard was like putting lace panties on a knife...HA HA HA!!! Oh well, to each his own I guess!

Nice knife,... I don't know you but after reading what you did with the guy coming home I know I like you.
