Purchasing new edc. Debating between the fixed blade, tough as nails izula and the sleek bm 581. I have never carried a fixed blade edc. If anyone else has experience carrying one, please chime in.

I don't have either of those knives (I have a Candiru and a 585 though), but isn't the 581 rather hefty compared to the Izula?

I carry my Izula with me every day and it couldn't be more comfortable. Also, these knives are both so different it's really up to what you're going to be usung them for.

i used to carry a izula-2, but not anymore.
i now edc a benchmade minigrip and i'm not going back.
but i still think the izula-2 is a great knife, for outdoor edc for example, like a short walk in the woods, camping etc.
for normal city edc the bulkiness isn't worth it in my opinion.

i got the izula a little while back, thought meh...and in the drawer it went.
mostly because of the scales doesn't go the hole handle length.

I'd pick this one:

:D;)

One of my favourites for sure!

If you're looking at a fixed blade edc in the 3"-or-less range and opt AGAINST an izula, I'd say you're foolish.

Thanks guys. Yeah the 581 is bigger but I think the izula just looks too interesting to pass up. The biggest thing is how to carry it discreetly, comfortably, and still retaining easy access. I never even considered carrying a small fixed blade as an edc, but I then I saw the izula. I think it's tough simplicity is what I like best. No bells and whistles, just performance and quality. It's a bit cheaper than the 581. Hell I'm probably gonna get both and review them for everyday carry. Sheath options is what I gotta look at next.
