Hi People,

I'm in the market for my next edc fixed blade. I have a few im choosing from but can't seem to decide. Was hoping to hear your thoughts. Ideally, if you own one of my options, i'd like to hear your thoughts on the knife and how you carry it. I'm going with pocket sheath carry with my very VERY VERY slim full grain leather pocket sheath i made myself. If you have similar options you'd like to add to my problem, please note i'm putting a length restriction at 6 inches OAL maximum and i prefer slim designs like the Dan Koster Scout listed below.

Here's the list:

1. Bark River Little Creek Black Canvas Micarta Handles in 3V Steel

I'm thinking this is too thick to perform well as an EDC blade. 0.15" stock, though convex, is just...too much. IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL THOUGH. Appealing.

2. Dan Koster Scout in 3V Steel

Appealing option. Practical Size, uncommon blade.

3. AG Russell Woodswalker

CHEAP and cheerful. A little low on the blade:handle ratio. My hands are very small and can put 4 fingers completely on a folts minimalist. Dont need much.

4. LT Wright Patriot in Black Canvas Micarta with red liners. THE ODDBALL. This shouldn't really be here but WTH.

I like red liners but i probably can't carry this because it's wide.

Hope to hear some good thoughts.

Could do what I am doing, just look through the people who make fixed blades and what exactly what you want made for you. Only problem is you may have to wait till after christmas

I really want to try belt carry with Spyderco G-clip.

As for length, 6.75" is no-no for me. the handle is on short side. So, something on 7-7.5" AOL side.

Thus far I tried Buck Paklite 141 (really nice one), and Becker BK-11 (kinda thick).

So, something with nice kydex, but not IWB carry, only some attachment.

Ide go with the little creek. Bark River's convex grinds cut like a thinner knife. It is something you have to experience. Also they have spa treatments for the cost of return shipping. You can have them put a high convex grind on it to thin the edge. Their heat treat is exceptional. Their warranty is exceptional as well.

Its a three finger knife. It carries well in the pocket.

Instead of the AG russell woodswalker, try their hunters scalpel or the bird and trout, I think some different steels available including stainless. I have the Patriot, really nice fit and finish, handle is smaller but fits hand in a three finger grip, have not used it enough to judge d2 steel, semi stainless. Patriot would fit your first criteria needs and be a good back up for camp chores. If you can find one, a BHK or Battle Horse knives frontier valley is a great size, some come in 01 others in d2.

The last couple months I have been EDCing a small fixed blade. I have a rotation. Izula, Bravo Necker II, a beater of a custom knife, and finally a Bradford Guardian.

The Guardian3 sees the majority of the pocket time. I like it so much I got two!

Like was said above, the custom route might be great as well. Seems like there are a lot of small, nice, EDC fixed blades coming out of the custom makers thread.

I've been carrying a Fallkniven juni over a year now and find its perfect for normal edc chores. It's a great addition to my rotation and the 3G steel is phenomenal. A few passes on the strop every so often to polish the edge and there's no end t the smiles this knife puts on my face. I have experimented with a few carry methods and find the dangler it comes with hung on a ball chain around my neck perfect. I highly recommend this knife and running a close second is the fallkniven kolt.

I just purchased a BRKT Little Creek so it gets my vote. Your concern with it is that it is too thick. Take note that the Scout and the Patriot are only 20 and 25 thousands thinner. That is literally 5 or 6 hair widths.

I think you are splitting hairs here. Literally.

I just bought a Blind Horse Long Trail that I want to use for EDC , It is a little under 7 inches long with a three inch blade. I was in your dilemma for a couple of weeks trying to decide . It is tough to choose when you cant touch them. The mail man should drop it off tomorrow. I also really like the Bark Rive Bravo EDC knife and might buy one of them in the future. I like some of the smaller knives , but without handling them , I think the handle length on a knife of only six inches would be too small for me and I don`t have huge hands. I have a Kabar BK-11 with no scales , just paracord wrapped handle and the handle on it seem kind of short in my hands.

I've had several Little Creeks. They're just too... little... for me. I currently carry a Bradford G3 in the standard horizontal leather belt sheath. It will also fit in the large Sharpshooter pocket sheath (Allegheny?), but not the mid-sized or smaller ones. If I don't carry that, I'll have a BRKT Essential on me. It does fit in the mid-sized pocket sheath.

If you like BRKT, I'd suggest looking at the Essential or the City Knife. My City Knife will fit in a smaller pocket sheath and is a great small FB with a good handle-to-blade ratio. Have you looked at BRKT's Bravo EDC or the Pocket Bravo as alternatives?
