EDC Fixed blade options?

I've decided to try out small fixed blades for an edc option at work (grocery store). I currently have the fixed blade Skylines with kydex sheaths. I'm getting a couple Spyderco G clips to put on them in a couple days. I'm also looking at the Brous Silent Soldier/SOG Swedge (money is tight), the Spyderco Enuff with a leaf blade, the Ka-Bar small TDI, and the ESEE Izula and Candiru. Since I am in California, I can't conceal a fixed blade, so I don't want anything bigger than the Skyline if you have other suggestions. Otherwise I just want to hear your guys' experience with these knives. Thanks

IMO the Brous Silent Soldier has the best blade style (wharncliffe) for your type of use. However, it is not that comfortable for extended use.

I would get an Izula 2 and get the belt clip with it. The Izula is the best small fixed blade for EDC in my opinion. Feel free to use and abuse without fear...I doubt you will ever break it, but if you do, no questions asked replacement!

Well the only thing i can think of you don't have on you're list is the crkt minimalist series and spew....

Does the sheath come with the clip on it or do I have to order the extras kit? (only thing I don't like about ESEE's options)

The clip only comes with the kit. If you buy the non-kit version, you will only get the knife, sheath and card.

The sheath is designed to accept other carrying options as well. You can tie para cord around it to loop into a belt. You can wear it as a neck knife. And it will take a tek-lok (small, I believe). ESEE also has a MOLLE attachment for it.

What about the Ka Bar TDI? I like that blade shape for precise box cutting. Anyone have any experience with it?

I'd say look at the ESEE Izula 2 and the Becker BK11

both are just fantastic knives with incredible warranties to boot. You won't be disapointed with either.

I think the BK 11 is just a tad too long for work EDC. Definitely a consideration for the outdoors, but I think I'm pushing the boundaries with wanting to carry a smaller fixed blade. Remember, I'm in California

I have the Izula and BK14, both great knives. But I'm still going to pick up the Spyderco Enuff drop point. I like the stainless VG10 option.

Yea, I love VG-10. I think I'm gonna pick up the Izula. Found it for $50 and an extra 9 for the clip. I'll snag it after my next paycheck comes in

The TDI might be a stretch, not from blade length, but from its handle design. A Hideaway could work, and so could a Hartsook, fitting the sheath under a belt loop and running a cord around another loop. Hard for someone to feel threatened by a Hartsook, or you could look for a used Buck Smidgen, which is the same design in 420HC and without the black coating. If the Izula comes across as too large, I suspect the SPEW might as well. The Minimalist has a better sheath than blade, given CRKT's habit of cheaping out on steel and their proprietary Nev-R-Sharp heat treatment.

You could also try the AG Russell Woodswalker if they ever get them back in stock, or the Hunter's Scalpel. I've heard good things about the latter, and the Woodswalker is an excellent small utility blade. I just wish it had a more pronounced self-guard, which the Minimalist design absolutely gets right.

While it might be unpopular to say so, you could always get a BK11 or 14 and cut down the blade to make it more tool-like. You could then justifiably say you felt it looked too intimidating and you wanted a tool with a full-length handle rather than a weapon. It would look even less threatening if you cord-wrap the handle with bright colors.
