Edc fixed blade

Im looking for a good edc fix blade. I was checking out the bark river bravo necker 2, but at an overall 7" length, im not too sure how easy it would be to carry and conceal. The way i would want to carry a fixed blade is in a sheath, horizontally mounted on my belt. Should i be looking for a smaller knife? Also, are there any other ways of carry that you guys could recommend?

I love carrying a fixed blade. Sometimes concealed, sometimes open just depends on my mood. I find the most concealable and most comfortable position is vertical(with a slight cant handle forward) either 8-9 or 3-4 o'clock positions.

I also carry small of back which is pretty concealable, and very easy to draw from. But its also behind your back which can be uncomfortable sitting down. I don't mind though. I also like horizontal at my 11 when im open carrying. Easy to draw with both hands. I can draw with both hands at all positions i carry. Albeit some harder than others.

That knife should be a perfect size to carry. That is right around the average size of my fixed blades, maybe even slightly smaller. The biggest knife i carry and can conceal is a ZT 0121. It disappears on my hip vertically but pokes out of the side slightly when at the small of my back. I doubt anyone can tell unless they're looking for it.

I never thought about having a fixed blade vertical, but slightly canted forward. I think that would be a good way to carry one on my none dominant side. It would make it easy to draw with my dominant hand.

My edc; Svord 6" fixed blade, horizontal permanent attached to belt back, lanyarded with long thin chain leash. Concealed by jacket, or by sweatshirt tied around my waist.

Precisely.

Lol at concealed by jacket tied around waist. I could never
Pull off that look.

I carry a blackjack model 155 (neck knife) in a KSF city sheath (it's got a section for cards/ID, and a small sheath area) and it works great. Sometimes I still wear another on my belt or slide one into a pocket. There are times when everyone around needs to borrow a blade at the same time and I seem to be the only one who carries around here.

I pocket carry most of my fixed blades or just attach them to my belt. The Izula is a great EDC fixed blade and with the clip plate disappears on a belt or in a pocket.

The FB I carry most often now is a Bark River Essential. It's 6 3/8" OAL, so it'll be a bit shorter than the one you're thinking about carrying. It comes with a crossdraw sheath that attaches to a belt at a forward angle. It also rides nicely in several of the Sharpshooter pocket sheaths so you can carry it concealed or open. In a pocket, I carry mine in a Pocono or Adirondack sheath with either a Streamlight Stylus Pro or a small Sebenza, depending on whether I think I'll need a light or not.

My Fav FB for most stuff is a Bark River Northstar EDC, I just don't have a good way to pocket carry it yet so it's limited to certain days when I can get away with the belt sheath. When I find a pocket sheath that fits it, it'll probably take over 95% of my FB carry. It's about 7 1/2" OAL and comes in CPM 3V, which I like.

I also pocket carry fixed blade knives, as well as having one around my neck. Neck knives are great for backup, but hard to deploy quickly. Neck knife is rarely used. As was previously stated, KSF has a variety of pocket sheaths for fixed blade pocket carry at a variety of sizes. I carry a BR Northstar EDC weak side pocket that completely conceals in jeans or Dockers. Deploys quickly and safely. It works strong side as well, but I usually have keys and other things in that pocket. I will carry a BR Gunny in my strong hip pocket in a KSF pocket sheath as well. But 1.5" or so of handle will stick above the pocket.

I am considering getting into sheath making in order to get the sheath to better fit the knife and the pocket, instead of using 3 or 4 pre made options from KSF. The above is what I usually do at work where I do not want to draw attention to my knife carry. If I am working around the house, or running to town on the weekends, regular exposed belt sheath carry is the uniform of the day.

I EDC a BK&T BK2 that dangles from my belt. If that one is too large for your likings I would suggest a BK 16 / BK 10 or one of the necker series BK11 / 14. These knives are workhorses for the money you pay for them.

I will be picking up either a BK11 or 14, soon. The handle will be the deciding factor, some do not like the 11, some do. When I get the funds, I'll be checking out the Bravo Necker 2 as well. I'm looking for a 3-3.5" blade with an overall length no greater than 7.5". I've made a few small fixed blades and I've also made a few leather pocket sheaths as well. For me, its the way to go up to 7.5". I can carry comfortably and not worry about the pocket clip normally associated with a folder. Really a plus when volunteering at my daughters' schools.

This has been part of my EDC since it arrived a few weeks ago. T.M. Hunt Wharncliffe in 01. Vertical, back left pocket alongside my Bandana...

My favorite small fixed is the spyderco streetbeat. I agree with some of the others that I. The front canted to the side for a cross draw is the way to go.

I just picked up a new pocket fixed blade from a great member here, a Bill Akers Backwoods in damascus and burled Buckeye. I'll need to get a few pics taken when I get a second.
