I posted this in General, but I hang out here most of the time, and you guys are a lot more knowledgeable and active than most "General" people...

I'm looking for a small, classy fixed blade for edc...something like the BRKT Mikro Canadian, but a little more value minded (around $50 or so). I've looked at the Woodswalker and I like it for the price, but I'm trying to keep my options open. I'm not necessarily looking for a neck knife, just a more traditional small fixed for back pocket carry in a leather sheath.

Any ideas?

the WoodsWalker is a great knife.. especially for the $$... i have a modded one by Scott Tanguay, with a kydex sheath... it's pretty cool... drop me a line if you want it...:D allscared@yahoo.com

it's the center knife in the pic...

the RAT cutlery IZULA is also another option...:)

I have an A.G. Russell "Bird and Trout" and think it is a great bargain and very handy knife.

Stay sharp,
desmobob

Thanks, guys. Hey Mike, is that the original handle? If not, what's the material?

it's not the original handle...i think this one is G-10... it was modded by knifemaker Scott Tanguay.. i believe he also bead blasted the blade and added some thumb grooves... the kydex sheath is pretty well made too...

Thanks Mike. I'm gonna keep looking for now.

Todd, that's a great looking knife! Pretty much along the lines of what I was looking for.

Does anyone have any more info on the "special" being run by BHK? (On their webpage) Is that a large or small workhorse?

Thanks,

Frosty

Don't know about their specials..but it is decent looking. I was seriously considering it, but went for another JK. (Twice your price range, or I would have sugested it instead.)

The BHK Patch Knives are very nicely made and a good value. Their August special offers a REALLY good deal.

Love that little ML Mike !

One more vote for Helle. I have the Eggen and it's a pretty sophisticated piece of work for the money. Quite sheeple-friendly to boot.

The BRKT Micro Canadian is very well built, i bought one used here on the forum not too long ago.
Haven't quite warmed up to it yet though, maybe i'm just not a tiny-fixed-blade kinda guy?
I'll have to really give it a workout and see if it will grow on me.

Really like the look of that custom Woodswalker by the way!
Maybe i need to customize the Micro Canadian!lol!

While my Enzo looks much bigger than the Micro-Canadian i actually don't find the Enzo that uncomfortable to pocket carry (in sheath), at least when i'm wearing cargo pants.
Maybe i need to get another Enzo blank and give it very thin scales to make it even more pocketable.
:D

Thanks for everyone's input. I just ordered the "August Special" from BHK. I'll let y'all know what I think when it gets here...The other knives will just have to wait!

I just ordered a Spyderco Mule Team in S90V Factory Second from spyderco.com. S90V is a tank of a steel and for only $72 after shipping, its not a bad deal.

Cant wait for it to arrive, but I have heard many good things about the design from reviews by other forum members. Just google Spyderco Mule Review. Its out in ZDP-189 right now as well.

The only downside (kinda) is that you have to add your own scales.
