I've got an L.T. Wright Patriot that I just got and I'm wanting to pocket carry it. I've modified the original sheath so that it works better in pocket but I'm considering buying a pocket sheath. What sheath's do you guys prefer? I carry my wallet in that same pocket so I want to get something that works with that.

Thanks

I've found that it depends as much on the shape/design of the pant pocket as on the sheath. So I actually use a couple of different sheaths for each knife. I do like the pocket sheaths carried by KSF and Knifeconnection. I like the ones that put the knife in the center of a flat, square shaped sheath with a wide base so it doesn't fall over in the pocket.

Excuse the recycled pic but this is my homemade pocket fixed blade

What Jordan said...that's what I'm carrying today.

I like the sheaths that nighthaxan supplies with his lime cutters.

Probably depends on thick your wallet is. If it's fairly thin like a front pocket wallet or a thin bi-fold, then a square pocket sheath like jnich67 mentioned would work. The sheath & knife can sit behind your wallet and still stay upright when the wallet's out of your pocket. If your wallet is thicker, you might want to use one of the Sharpshooter Bushcraft sheaths that KSF, DLT, and TKC carry. Sharpshooter used to make a full cover flat pocket sheath (not the wilderness full cover that they now have) for smaller FBs but I haven't seen any available for a while now.

Here is the patriot in a Sharpshooter killdeer. Pictured with my simple moneyclip wallet for size reference.

These are Blind Horse Knives...Bushbaby model...very similar to your Patriot. I prefer the D-ring carry, but with either sheath, I find that the lanyard is very desirable...if not just plain necessary... for quick deployment.

I'll report back on the Spyderco Perrin Street Beat I just received -- been curious about them for some time.

I like the dangler idea for pocket carry. Is that just a key ring dangler or a dedicated sheath dangler?

I have a Lon Humphrey white tail that I carry in a knivesshipfree pocket sheath. One of my favorite knives to carry.

Made my own. It's a little jazzed up. But it's basically as simple as can be. I'm an office drone in my dayjob so I have no need for anything one-handed or quickdraw. So something like this suits my purpose.
