EDC Fixed in NYC?

I have a simlar question. I think it should be fine (<4"blade, not a "gravity knife", etc), but hopefully one of the NY gurus respond and confirm this.

It looks like it should be acceptable for carry in NYC. The blade is under 4 inches, and it is single edged- so it shouldn't inherently be a dagger or dangerous knife. As a plus, it has a pretty non-tactical utilitarian design. Obviously it would have to be carried concealed, except when in actual use- like all other knives in the City.

Being a fixed blade, it is more likely that you will be questioned about it- than if it was a little red Swiss Army Knife of equal length. You need to prepare yourself to respond that you are carrying it only as a tool if asked (and you opt to answer). This could be difficult, and how (or if) you are going to answer the question is something you need to think about- preferably before you start publicly toting it. Remember that your words can (and will) be used against you- choose them carefully if you choose to speak. if you respond that it is for use against your fellow man (including self defense)- you will be looking at charges, even if the knife itself isn't inherently illegal.

The knife arrived today and as expected, it is really cool. Very small and VERY non threatening. Also real sharp.

Should make a good EDC.
