EDC Flashlight Recommendation?

Hey guys. I was hoping to get some help finding an EDC light.

I currently own two surefire 6p's (one LED one incandescent), a surefure G2, a streamlight stylus and a streamlight stylus pro. (And mag lights but they are too big for carry lol.)

If any one of those lights fits my bill it would be the Streamlight Stylus Pro. Amazing output for such a small package.

However I'm looking for something with more output/throw. I've been told to look at fenix.

Requirements are:
1. Smaller in size than surefire 6p (its going to be in my pocket probably)
2. More output than the streamlight stylus pro. (Along the lines of the surefire would be nice but I dont know if its possible in such a small package.
3. I would really prefer that it not have a million different modes. I want to be able to pull it out and push the tailcap without having to turn the bezel and all that crap. Now if you guys tell me that if I turn a fenix on turbo mode and keep it in my pocket, that the bezel wont move and that it will STAY in turbo mode, I could live with that.

So any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I can tell you the two most popular suggestions, if the other threads are anything to go by.

My suggestion (hence why it rates a "most popular" :D) is the nitecore ezaa. A stripped down AA light, it is almost the size of a AAA light. It has simplified activation modes (twist on, twist off, twist further to another setting). And, most importantly to me, it comes in warm LED color- meaning it looks like an incandescent, and doesn't have an ugly bluish or purple beam, but a golden one. drool...

The other one is the Quark AA, 123, etc. Very well done light series, if other people's suggestions are something to go by. Well constructed, good interface, good warranty, and yes, it comes in golden too. Google either of these, and you'll find good reviews.

Those are my two suggestions. There are plenty more, but those two are mine.

Surefire: E2DL, L1, LX2, or a malkoff for your 6P. Also check out Olight and Nitecore if you don't feel like dishing out the $$ for a surefire.

I've had good experiences with Fenix as a good value light. I've EDCd a Fenix P2D for 18 months or so now and its always worked well. I haven't had to change the battery in it yet!

There are quite a few modes on most Fenix devices, the L1T is a single AA model that only has high / low settings.

My P2D does have turbo mode thats activated by screwing the fhashlight head down, the light will then come on in turbo mode without having to cycle through the other modes. The downside is that runs the battery down, and turbo mode cant be used for more than 15 mins at a time because the light is so small it starts to overheat

I like my Fenix so muich I just bought a TK40 because the nights are drawing in... :D

Fenix LOD is ALWAYS on my keys, everywhere and all the time. Perfect EDC for around the house, yard, everything. Keep in mind I think EDC is for pocket carry. To hike or explore, carry bigger (Surefire, the new Fenix TK40 for example).

Go to fenix-store.com and get either a Fenix or Quark light, in the flavor that best suits you - 1xCR123, 2xCR123, 1 or 2 AA. You can feed any of them on rechargeable batteries, giving you "free" lumens.

The Surefire L1 and L4 are the lights I use the most but there are many great lights out there for less £/$ than a surefire.

I'd also recommend 4sevens' Quark series. Great lights. Like them better than Fenix, although Fenix is decent.

Try the Olight series too.

A Surefire E1B exceeds all of those requirements.

80 lumen / 5 lumen output, 1 CR123 cell, 4" long. It carries very well and the dual style clip (bezel up or down) does come in handy. It also has a nice melted finish that won't snag or rip up your pockets. I wear it with jeans clipped to my belt or Dockers clipped in pocket. Either way it rides great and works even better.

If you already like Surefire I don't see a reason (except for price) to go to Fenix. I can't say I'm a fan of the rotating selector rings myself, high / low mode works fine for me.

Check out the iTP C series lights avaliable at GoingGear.com. Here's a Quote from the website about them:

The C7T from ITP is a slick little AA flashlight with a design inspired by a bullet. It not only looks good, but also feels good in the hand with any type of grip. The C7 is part of ITP's modular system, meaning that you can use the same head and tail cap with three different battery configurations (C7/AA, C8/2 x AA, C9/CR123). Add the additional tubes to your order to be able to adjust the body size and battery runtime to each situation.

The T version differs from the R version in that it has a forward clicky tailcap, meaning that it can be lightly pressed for momentary on. The T version does not come with strobe or SOS functions.

Features:
LED type: Cree 7090-XR-E Q5, life span up to 50000 hours
Battery reverse polarity protection
Made of aerospace grade aluminium alloy
Ergonomic design
HA Type Ⅲ finish
Aluminium alloy reflector with half smooth and half orange peel
Output level: 6 lumens-190 lumens
Digital infinite beam adjustment function: choose and memorize your favorite brightness level
Constant current output control system
Runs on a single AA battery, also compatible with NiMh battery and 14500 lithium cells
Forward clicky switch for momentary-on
Size: length 105.5mm, Diameter 27mm
Weight 80g (Excluding battery)

I've been EDC'ing my iTP C7T off and on since July. Taken it camping a few times and it's now my EDC light when I'm not at my retail job. Storl is also going to start carrying the new S series lights from iTP. They look pretty sweet!!

I'm not a big fan of modes- High and Low are all I need or want... But small size, good runtime and high output are also important. I've EDC'd the following over the past few years.
Fenix L1Tv2
Fenix L0D-Q4
Fenix E01
Photon 2
Photon 3
SF E2L Outdoorsman (to a MUCH lesser extent, due to size).

Finally settled on L0D Q4 and photon 2 on the keychain. I won't get into the L0D debate but leave it at its super easy to use and fantastic form factor. The L1Tv2 is a great light, but again just too big doe blue jeans- it stays in my bicycling pack an works fantastic as a helmet light. The photon3 was just too complicated to deal with (although it sees time as a reading light on road trips) and the SF is a phenominal light with great form factor and function but 2 cells are too many for my EDC- the E1L would probably be perfect. In fact, the UI is as good as it gets. "tactical" tail clicky, first click low second high. Great beam, great throw... Actually could almost use a little floodier beam, but very nice light.

Guess what I'm saying is for a compact light with good runtime and brightness the L0D (or now LD01) is a great light. Even if it is a twisty.
