Please help me find a new EDC. I'm currently carrying an older Spyderco Native with a serrated blade and I want to move to a non-serrated blade. I like a spear point and would like to get a blade around 3.5 - 3.9 inches.

I carry my knife in my left front pocket so I need a knife that will allow the clip to be moved for a LH carry.

One attribute that really appeals to me is a flipper for deployment. This isn't a requirement, but it would be really nice.

Finally, I have a budget of less than $100. My wife says she wants to buy me a new knife, but there is a limit to how much she loves me on Valentine's Day.

Of course I have really expensive tastes and would love to have a ZT0350 or Sebenza. My budget says that I'll end up with something more like a CRKT M16. (which I would get, but only the Special Forces have multi-clip positioning and I don't think the dual guard would go well in a front pocket)

So... any suggestions would be most appreciated!!

Thanks in advance,

Mike

The junkyard dog II Composite is right up your alley. 3.75 inches of CPM-D2 edged glory with a flipper. the handle ergos are nice, you don't have to sharpen it very often, and it is a big, thick blade. the only thing is that it is not, i think, a spear point. it is a pretty heavy knife, though, but it is also very heavy duty. Price is 70-80 most places, but you can get a blem from kershawguy here on the forums for 55 bucks shipped. another version with SG2 steel and aluminum handles is 89 bucks. both the ZT 0200 and 0350 are 85 bucks. the ZT 0400 NIB is 100 bucks. Blemishes are usually cosmetic. my 0200 that i just got from him had a spot where the blade coating had been scratched off. for that price, i can take it. my spec bump had a funky locking mechanism, and kershaw is sending me a replacement. it is just great stuff for a great price.

I hope you get what you want. that 0350 is pretty sweet....

P.S.You might also like the spec bump. a black version can be had NIB for 95 bucks.

Yep, thegeek574 nailed it, the 0200 seems to hit your requirements perfectly and you'll have a ZT!

I personally like the 0200 much more than the 0300 or the 0350 variants, the 0200 has a much pointier tip and doesn't look so... fat..

Also you got a length advantage, and I like my knives big. YMMV

No spearpoint and a right-hand liner lock, but what about the buck vantage pro?
It should be possible to change the clip to LH carrying, it's s30v and it has a small flipper.

How long is the blade on the Kershaw RAM? You might like it, if it's long enough.
