Edc folder with super steel

Hi guys, the title pretty much sums it up, I'm looking for a smallish knife for edc tasks with fantastic edge retention. I don't really need it, based on my usage, I mean I'm not cutting up cardboard or shingles, I just want to give a high end steel (s30v or better, in edge retention) a try. In the past I've favored steel that sharpens easily and takes a fine edge. Vg10 was about as fancy as it got. Now I've grown more confident in my ability to sharpen and frankly I'd like to jump on the super steel bandwagon for a while.

I'd like to keep the knife close to delica size, smaller is better. I'm ok with slip joints, liner locks, lockbacks, and everything else, this is mainly about the steel. This won't be used tactically, or for heavy work like chopping or batoning. I just want a new toy, because I'm a knife addict, and I refuse to get treatment. Budget is $120, but I could go a bit higher if I really had a reason to.

They make a Delica and an Endura with ZDP-189. You can find both for under $100.

If you want an inexpensive sampling of S30V, the Buck Vantage Pro has G10 handles and a blade of S30V heat treated by Paul Bos all for around $50. It comes in two sizes, too.

I was thinking something a little smaller than the GB. I like the idea of the delica in ZDP-189, I had one a while ago but sold it for something else, maybe its time I go back.

The Spyderco Sage 1and 3 would be good options. S30V and a little dressier than the Delica. (I would recommend the Sage 2 but it's around $140.)

I'm going to give this a tryout in my edc rotation

Elmax powder steel for under $80

The Caly 3.5 in Super Blue steel is excellent small knife, if you don't need stainless steel. Easy to sharpen. Takes a great edge. Holds that edge for a long time.

Here is a very interesting outsider: the Müller MSP backlock, it has an outstanding S90v blade. A very decent, and refreshingly non-tactical top quality EDC.

If you're interested, I made a video review about it (sorry about the heavy accent):

I'd second the BM755. Great steel and edge retention. I've only sharpened it once since I got it last year.

I'll vote for the Speedform 2 as well. Given the quality of the knife and the steel I think it's one of the best buys out there for an EDC blade.

Dagon, thanks for showing us that Muller MSP in S90V. I never even knew it existed. I like S90V, Lockbacks and nice wood as well. I might have to save up for one of those and see about importing one.

Joe
