Is the Pentagon Elite any good for everyday carry or is it too much of a special purpose knife? I also like the Flash II and Trident. I doubt I'll need to stab anybody anytime soon, but the Pentagon is definitely cool:D

I think that the Spec Elite I is more suitable for EDC (I own one). The handle is the same but the blade shape is more utilitarian. It is my opinion that this is one of the most comfortable handles in SOG's line up.

The Spec Elite 1 is a great EDC. I retired my Trident as an EDC unless in am hiking. The pentagon elite IMO would not be a good EDC unless you really wanted it to be and the grip fit you.

When I would visit Salt Lake city a lot I EDC'd my Pentagon Elite II every time I went. The PE I is a better size for an EDC IMO and so is the Spec Elite. This week I get to try out the Fusion Salute as my EDC and after 9 hours, I'm still liking it. Long blade but not to long and good blade shape. Was planning to get the Spec Elite I this spring but might get the Fusion Salute instead.

I'm a little late to this, but when I had the pentagon elite I, I couldn't use the tip for much other than killing 2 x 4's :o The shark tooth tip is too thick for small 'glances' such as grazing a blister or trying to remove dead skin, etc...The handle is very comfortable and the arc lock is silky smooth, so I would recommend the spec elite I for EDC.

As for the trident folders, they are excellent and I'm actually carrying one daily right now, mine is the Trident Tanto with Digi camo configuration. The groove cutter comes in handy when you are around people and you just need to do a simple cut, the safety is nice so that you can guarantee that you won't lose a finger reaching in your pocket, and it carries light.
