Hey guys,
As the title says Im looking for a folder to edc. At the moment I'm using an opinel no 8 but I find the handle is uncomfortably small for my huge hands, so I need something that is fairly beefy. unfortunately In my area its illegal to carry a blade over 3.5 inches so I cant go for a bigger opinel.
so if you guys have any suggestions Ill be glad to here them.

Thanks,
Sam

I may get knocked around for this but I like the Spyderco Tenacious. It feels good in hand and I haven't had any problems with the edge retention. I got mine for like $30 including shipping.

Ontario RAT 1, no doubt! Has a 3.5" blade and a good size comfortable handle. Well under $40 too.

+++1 RAT 1. If you get a really good Deal and/or have an extra $10-15 bucks go for both the 1 & 2. Cannot be beat for the money IMHO.

One of the rubber handled SAK's. I'm partial to the alox models but they're probably too small for you.

I personally like my Ka-bar Dozier folding hunter, though if you want something a big more beefy a Ka-bar Phat Bob may do the trick. The folding hunter has a longer handle than most knives I've handled with a similar blade length and I find the aus-8 steel to that it comes with to be able take a very scary edge with little work. The handle is 4 1/4 for the dozier and should be 4 3/8 for the phat bob. Another one to check out would be the Kershaw Blur.

For reference I wear large gloves and besides how thin the dozier is it fits my hand perfectly, but that is of little concern to me due to how good the jimping and grip is on the handle.

Agreed on the above rats,
But I have just sent away for a Kershaw Injection 3"
I got a feeling that this might be a nice little EDC
Cheers

Waited way too long to get a RAT 1. Great quality for under $30.00 shipped.

thanks guys looks like I have narrowed it down to 3 the RAT 1 the Spyderco tenacious and the Ka-bar doiser if you guys have any more opinions to help me pick one out of the three that would be great thanks

Really love my Rat 1, large Buck Vantage Avid is also great. They are getting all the pocket time these days.

My first Ontario RAT 1 came today. I'm amazed by the amount of knife for the money. Seems like a very well made knife for less than $30 shipped.

Kershaw Cryo is another option to consider if you like an assisted opener flipper framelock. Definitely beefy for the size.

Look at the Kershaw Cryo 2 and Kershaw Thermite. Both under $40. The Cryo 2 is much bigger than the original Cryo.

Rat 1 and Tenacious are nice solid EDC'ers for guys with big hands. Save some cash for something to sharpen them up with too like Crock Sticks or a tri stone if you dont have something.

I like the tenacious better, but the rat 1 is a great knife too, but the handles feel to big to me. However if you have large hands, it will fit perfect.

I forgot to mention the Buck Vantage select large. People knock the steel because it's 420HC, but Buck gives it a great heat treat, and it holds an edge as well as 8Cr13MOV, or AUS-8. For $26, it's
A great value.
