I usually carry my Spyderco Kerambit as a EDC mainly for SD reasons and nothing more wouldn't dare use it to open packages. I recently started to get ride time with the firefighters and paramedics for school and needed a knife that would work well with that line of work. Something that can be put through the grinder and come out still working. Know I do have a Buck Strider 880tx & Buck Strider 889BK I now they would get the job done but I was hoping for something more subtle. I was looking at the Spyderco Captain any comments or suggestions.

Thanks

What blade length are you looking for? Will you be wearing gloves during your ride time?

Some kinda rescue knife? Spyderco has a few. What about a straight up utility knife like the Griptilian or Mini Grip? 710D2?

Get an orange or yellow handled Spyderco. A Rescue or Rescue Jr. would work real well. One of the Salts would be very good in those lines of work. Get one with a sheepsfoot blade, though. You need a quick slicer, not a prybar, not a combat knife.

spyderco endura/ delica

the rescue ones are nice too if that fits yours needs better.

spyderco natives are nice too

The Spyderco Captain isn''t any more subtle than the Buck Striders and offers less lutility. I can't imagine your being asked to doing anything with a knife on a ride-along and you won't make a great impression whipping out anything other than an SAK or Rescue, which may send the right message.
