This is in reference to the superb 100+ page thread on what people carry in their pockets:

Many men had way too much to comfortably carry in pockets. We really need a thread showing all the different carry solutions. I'll start off by offering a few.

Manbags, shoulder bags, messenger bags, hobo bags, travel bags, organizer bags and man purses

Mmmhmm. Progressive.

Besides looking it looking ridiculous (Don't get me wrong, I think women with purses look ridiculous too), I'd rather have my personal belongings a little closer to my person or throw them in a bike bag. As for the 'mega-fannypacks'.... Why don't we come out with brand-new and improved 8-tracks too but call them Stormtracks:jerkit:

Still, just my personal opinion. Power to those who utilize the manbag, I won't knock you for it.

Here's what I use;

...but my primary mode of trasportation is a bicycle.

I'm moving this thread to Gadgets & Gear.

Here's an extensive review of the Neat Freak from last year by Sproles.

After reading it, putting in a lot of research and some thought, I went with the Pack Rat instead -- a bit more compact.

When I'm carrying more than the Pack Rat can handle -- and that's quite a bit -- I carry my County Comm Bail Out Bag.

I use a Courier Bag from Riderwearhouse (aerostich.com) for work. Since I always have it with me, it contains my edc stuff as well as my work related items.

No good solutions for when I'm off work though other than cargo pants.

Why no good ol' low profile backpacks? I carried one through college, and I still do to work. You can stash more than enough gear under books/files/papers/laptop/lunch/etc. without annoying questions like "why do you need to carry *that*?"

Off work, either stuff my coat or carry a messenger bag (or a gym bag) and say I'm coming straight from the office (which isn't far from the truth, I'm a workaholic :o , I'm addicted to workahol.)

The only thing I hate carrying more than an obvious laptop bag is a touristy fanny pack, and I'd rather not proclaim to the world: "look, a nifty camera bag!"

I like the Jumbo Versipack though, thinking of getting one. Now if only I could get a CCW permit.

i have the jumbo versipack. too much like a purse. its in the closet now.

im with you dt, good backpack. some of the pics look pretty nifty, but i wont wear a fannypack or carry any type of man-bag.

There are a few good backpacks like the one I've had for years, an Eagle Creek ConvertaBrief. You can store the backpack straps inside a zippered pocket, turning it into a briefcase, or attach the shoulderstrap. It has a main compartment, an organizer compartment outside that, and a zippered compartment on the face of the organizer for quick access to tickets.

Eagle Creek doesn't seem to carry anything like it anymore, but these do:

i just bought the 5.11 two day. i am planning on using it as more of an overnight bag. they make great stuff.
