Hay every one. I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping I can get some help pointing me in the right direction. I'm in bad need of an EDC and I'm willing to go as high as $250. I live in MI so I need to stay close to 3" and 4" is really pushing It. I Don't wanna go under that 3", And I'm going to need something that I can use on a deployment also. Pleas keep in mind I'm new to this and it will be my first high value knife purchase. I don't know nearly as much as most of you will. And that is why I came here. :)

Some of the things I'm looking for in a folder.
Handle.............Titanium
Lock................Frame Lock
Lanyard Hole.....Yes
Pocket Clip.......Not needed
Blade Material...CPM-M4 Or something very close. I need good edge retention because sharpening will be very hard to do. I'm not going to use it as a pry bar. Only for cutting and fine tip work.

This is a list of knifes I've been looking at.

Benchmade 760.
Bradley Cutlery Alias II
Spyderco Sage 2
Spyderco Perrin PPT
LionSteel SR-1A BS
DPx Gear HEST 2.0 I don't like the G-10
Boker Epicenter
Benchmade Lerch Subrosa 790

I think I like the Benchmade 760 the most it's just to big...

Have you looked at the ZT 0560?

Well I just looked at the spyderco military and the ZT 0560.

I really don't like the G-10 on the ZT 0560. I've also never herd of that steel.. and the price is over my max... I can't keep inching up on my max or I'll end up with a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan lol

The spyderco military is a big knife just like the Benchmade 760. Can any one tell me whats going to be better. CPM-M4 or CPMS30V? I need super edge retention. I'm going to need to go as long as I can without sharpening. Also rusting is not going to be a factor in this...

Perhaps a Spyderco Gayle Bradley would fit half the reqs gives. ZT also makes some really good knives. And Bradley looks like a good pick too.

The Alias II and Sage 2 seem closest to what you want including size. Both get good reviews from owners.

For those criteria I would go with a ZT0550. It's about $200nib and a great knife that's worth every cent.

If m4 steel is your top priority then I think the already mentioned Gayle Bradley folder from Spyderco would be a good choice, although it doesn't meet your titanium requirement.

CPM-M4 is going to give you better edge retention than S30V, another steel you might consider is M390, which will give you M4 or better edge retention as well. Elmax used in the ZT 560 is also quite good.

Check out the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. A much-more popular choice for many of us. Smaller, shorter, lighter, 3.3" blade in lots of good blade-steel choices that you can find right here in this section for sale. Very nice for all day carry. Good slicer.
...and CPM-M4 would be my choice over S30v, although S30V is a good steel also.

Get the Benchmade Subrosa or the Bradley Alias 2.

Both will last you a long time, and look incredible!

The Subrosa is going to be quite a bit larger the the Alias obviously, but also has a great weight to it for its size. I think it only weighs 3.8 oz with a 3.8 inch blade, which is a huge accomplishment IMO.

M4 will hold an edge longer than s30v, with the caveat it's not stainless.

I second (third?) the recommendation of the Military.

You can get it with a ti fame-lock, g10 handle on the other side and cpm-m4; or a full titanium handle and s30v (cheaper).
There was also a recent sprint with peel ply carbon fiber and m390 that pops up in the exchange half often, m390 will equal if not surpass m4 for edge retention and it's stainless.

Also, Tom Krein seems to be popular for regrinds although I have no personal experience with his, or any, regrinds.

Well I went with the Benchmade 760 and I love it! I just made a case for it today..

Hay guys thanks for all the help and opinions. I think I'm going to get the Alias II next. This knife came from ebay and it has my kinda upset. I love the hell out of it... BUT the blade is so off center it rubs the Ti slab opposite of the frame lock. I took it apart and swapped the washers around with no luck. So then I took them to some 2k grit paper and buffed them till they where smooth. Still off. I'm at a loss on how to fix this.

Don't know if you already did this but did you tighten the pivot??
