Hello everyone,

Greetings from Sarawak, Borneo! I am new to Esee but I have to say the gears looks like they were designed for our jungles. :D The closest knife I have to Esee is a RAT1 folder. I am looking at a small EDC fixed blade. Will Izula be more 'EDCable' then the larger Izula II?

Thanks!

The izula 2 isnt that much larger than the izula. Its only an extra half inch in length on the handle, but it also includes handle scales which are removable. If you have big hands get the izula 2.

Now that you can get scales for the older Izula, I've been contemplating the same thing (but for EDC concealed).

I'd almost rather have the smaller scales and exposed metal bottom of the original Izula, but I don't know how much control you lose with the 1/2" shorter handle and lack of micarta on the bottom of the ring.

I find it's more comfortable to put some paracord around the ring even with micarta scales on. Without the paracord, I still feel I have control but then again my little finger rests inside of it biting into my palm. YMMV

I have the regular Izula and pocket carry it everyday. I barely notice it's there. Great little knife and will serve you well.

I have a Izula-II on order and it should be here next week, I plan on giving it a go for EDC as well and from all I've heard, I don't anticipate that being a problem at all.

Either Izula should be just fine for EDC given their dimensions. The Izula-1 might be slightly easier to hide since it is slightly smaller, but the Izula-2 by all accounts gives you a much better grip.

Which ever way you decided to go is a great option.

Thats why I sold the Original Izula's today on the exchange! I am a Izula II Man now! Can't wait to get more colors in it as well.

I've carried both now and I can't tell a difference in my pocket the real difference is when you're holding it. The Izula-II is the way to go IMO.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. Looks like the Izula II is gonna a very popular knive judging from the responses. :)

I've had my Izula for about two days now and haven't held an Izula II, but I wouldn't really desire anything more than the Izula. I'm not really sure if my hands are normal sized or large ( definitely not on the small side) but from the crest between my thumb and index to just outside my palm ( the part paralell with the outside edge of your pinky ) it's about 3 1/2", and that leaves my pinky pretty much right in-line with the hole in the Izula's handle.

So far to me the most attractive features of an Izulla II is that the scales come with the knife, and that they are full scales versus the Izula's which leave the circle at the end uncovered.

I wish that there was a local dealer that sold them so I could try out an Izula, but all that being said, if I want to get another Izula it will probably be an original since I already know how it fits.

the izula II is one awesome knife. a great addition to the esee line.
currently my izula II is set up for neck carry.
the standard izula has been my edc pocket carry for over a year now
and just that little extra handle length and the thickness of the scales
would prevent me from using the izula II the same way.
maybe i will play around with scales off and some basic paracord wrap
but i think i will stick with the first generation izula for pocket carry
yup, its small but thats what i want in a concealed rear pocket carry

I've had my Izula II for a week now and have had it, with just sheath in my pocket, and could not see it or feel it unless I touched it. So It is very well in that case A+ I then carryed it on my belt with the kit (some of it, no paracord Just split ring and the fire steel in my vest pocket) But as it was in the clip on my belt, again, did'nt know it was around until I touched my side. So I give it another A+ on how many ways you can belt carry it. (its there now) Then I tryed out the paracord with the kit and did a neck carry. I don't usally put things on my neck, but it was so small and light, it did not bother me, and No one could see it. And it pulled out easy and fast. So again an A+ for it. As far as the 1/2 in longer..This was the one thing *Why* I did'nt buy the 1st Izula. I did not want a skelton frame that was small and if I had to pry with it? not a good feel at all. and I did'nt like the only option of a handle to be paracord. So when my Izula II came it fit like a glove in my hand. Good grip for a pry if needed, small enough to put anywhere. And as I see it, One of the best non folding blades that can be had. I even switched my EDC folder for my II. So I give it an A+ for it being everything I wanted in such a small blade. That thinks its a big blade. Its also as sharp as anything I've had if not more so. So I give a BIG :thumbup:UP for this lil ant. So seems like I like it huh:D enjoy edgy

I've been pocket carrying all week, from morning till bedtime.
And it's a pretty perfect EDC fixie IMO. VERY 'EDCable'

But hey, why not get both ;)

anybody have side by side pics with both models?
