Greetings,

Hope all is well.
Just wondering where one might find some reputable sites to purchase cord (variety of colors) for my various EDC gear (light,knuck,knife,multi-tool). The standard 550 cord I have left over from the military is rather thick. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look for climbing static/accessory cord, 2 and 3mm sized. you can get it in a bunch of colors from most of the climbing rope makers. As well as 3mm tent guy line which is available with a reflective trace if you want.

Nice. Do you have a particular site that you order from?

Also, is the 2 and 3mm size a good size to be threaded through most beads?

Have you guys seen the paranoid that has the firestartwe thread inside along with the 7 small strands?
I have some... But haven't tried it yet. I thought why not...

Try that again, sheesh!
Hey!
Have you guys seen the paracord with the fire starter thread inside with the 7 strands?
I have some, but have not tried it yet.
Sorry for the waste of space...
I'll get better at this now that I see you (I mean I) can edit a post.
Good evening!

Try the "Paracord Store", they offer different sizes, I've got some 425 Tatctical Paracord with a 400lb tensile strength, 3 strand core

No I haven't even heard of it. Sounds interesting.

I hope that's ok, and what I've bought seems very rugged.
I always carry multiple ways to make a fire, this is another chance, with multi use.
Trek safely!

REI or any climbing store (MEC in canada) will have climbing cord, its pretty tough stuff, should work well with most beads. the best part is that you get a pretty accurate load rating with it.

Thanks man! Just hoping this cord is not as thick as the current 550 cord that I have.

Any 550 cord should be the same diameter. A lower rated cord will probably be thinner. The local hobby shop sells 350 cord, for instance. You can also pull the guts out to make it a little thinner (and flat).

Ya, this. You can buy 550 just about anywhere. Amazon has decent prices for small amount, but it sounds like you might run into the same problem with thickness. You could try gutting what you have... ?

Ive actually gotten paracord at HobbyLobby. I think its made in the USA. They have 100 foot hanks of the 550 cord and 50 feet hanks of the 325 and 95 sizes.

One item I find useful to have for some lanyards is the Nexus plastic snap clips. They are good quality, seem to last along time (haven't has one fail on me yet) and inexpensive. sometimes I incorporate one on my lanyard so I can tether it to a belt loop or backpack.

I bought most of my 550 and 800 para cords on Amazon.
I've been making my own survival bracelets and lanyards to give to friends and family.
Prices are reasonable esp if you have prime (free shipping)
