Hey everyone. I asked earlier about a fixed blade for self defense. After narrowing it down a few times but never pulling the trigger I wanted to check my laws to make sure I wasn’t going to buy something that I couldn’t use. So after reading the NY state laws I’ve come to think maybe an edc pocket knife with an emphasis on self defense. I have a few different pocket knifes, tdi folder, kershaw Emerson cqc, crkt drifter to name a few. I usually carry a Walmart Winchester knife that I use day to day things and carry the Emerson kershaw.

I’m looking for something that is able to be clipped inside my pants pocket, blade length of 3-3.5”, and around $75.

Spydero Endura, though the MSRP is a bit higher than $75, but you might be able to find one for less. Check out Spyderco's other folders as well.

Spyderco delica. Good edc in that size and price range. Amazon has lots of options for delica.

For SD you need a reliable and strong lock .

Cold Steel Tri-ad .

American Lawman , Code 4 or other in your legal length .

Training and practice is more important than any special knife for SD .

Learn how to fight without a weapon first .

Learn how to avoid needing to fight , above all . ;)

If you don't have training in the use of a knife as a weapon. Your only going to put yourself in danger......
or legal trouble.....
The most highly trained men I know in self defense with or without weapons.
Are experts at avoiding getting into dangerous situations.........

I like the crkt M whatever. (I think there are 16s and 14 or something. A bunch of different ones)

An ok but not great all round knife but it has a very round profile when closed so I could theoretically belt a guy with it without carving my hand apart.

Otherwise it has the obligatory sharp bit. And the opener bit and the holds on to your pocket bit that defensive knives should probably have.

Liner lock though which might be a bit sketchy if put under too much force.

Looks like they have a thing on the liner to stop it closing.

If you want a new knife for protection, get whatever your budget allows. Please don't plan to use it unless it is an absolute last resort. As stated before, both participants in a knife fight will be cut and injured, probably even life threatening. Wasp spray is a better deterrent since it is a stream and accurate to 20'. Run/walk away if possible. There is never any shame in living to the next day. These are just my humble thoughts.

The CQC-6K seems like it would be the most appropriate choice.

My concern (a theoretical concern because I'm not an Eskrimador) is that you could disengage the lock in a serious social situation.

I try to respect price limits in posts, but this time I'm going to pole-vault over it:

Benchmade Barrage. A spare set of Omega springs. Practice your deployment cycle until you can do it while pouring a drink with your other hand. If you're serious about edged combatives, then skip the CRKT and the budget Kershaws. This is no time to be thrifty.

The blur is a higher quality Kershaw that I think would fit your criteria. The Kershaw Emerson collaboration was a decent knife in my expierance as well.

Unless you live in NYC, a pistol permit is more practical for self defense.
