Hey guys and gals, I am looking to create an EDC pocket organizer kit and would like some suggestions. I would like to hear of your kits for those who carry them. Some recomendations for specific brands that make pocket organizers and some help as to what to put in it would be greatly appreciated. I am mainly looking for an organizer that is around 9"x7" or smaller. I have currently been looking into Diplomat gear and maxpedition organizers. Again any help is much appreciated thanks

Let me be the first to recommend Maxped's EDC Pocket Organizer.
I can't personally comment on it, because mine is still en route, but I think this organizer is a favorite to everybody - never read any thing bad about it.

LUW yeah that is the one I am looking to get but I was waiting for other memers' opinions on it or if there are any better ones out there for the price

EVERYWHERE you read about it you'll see people saying that in terms of craftsmanship it's the best, so you can't go wrong in that department. For instance, CountyComm's Diplomat Pocket Organizer version is similar, but not as well made as Maped's, but it is cheaper. Another one you can also look into is the Unikit, that at least to my eyes looks almost as good as Maxped's.

They're all basically the same, what varies is price and materials, so except for CountyComm's version, you'll probably be happy with any of them. The Diplomat is very good for the money (maybe even better then the other two in the bang-for-the-buck department), but the Unikt and Maxped are definitively better made.

Well thanks everyone I think I will go with the Maxped, the unikit is also nice but a bit more expensive. So any suggestions on what to put in it?

You sure will open a HUGE can of worms with that request :D.

If you want to see a lot of ideas, go over to the EDC Forum. Just be sure to use what you see there as ideas for what you should carry, not the gospel. Start with the suff you carry right now in your pockets or with the things you would carry but don't because they don't fit in your pockets, and only then start to fill the organizer out with the cool-stuff-to-carry. Also, don't forget that you don't have to necessarily fill the pouch to the point of bursting. Try to be as economical as you can, to keep the weight down. If it gets too heavy or too bulky you won't carry it because it became cumbersome, and that would defeat the original idea of a pocket organizer.

I have the Countycomm and Maxpedition flavors. The Maxpedition version is slightly larger, appears to be twice as durable, and is more than twice as spendy. I like them both, though.

Here is the Maxpedition flavor:

I have the Spec Ops and Diplomat. The Spec Ops is a bit classier but the Diplomat works fine as a small tool kit.

Yeah I looked in to the spec ops as well as the diplomat. But i like the way the maxped is set up, and thanks to powernoodle for the pic. I have been looking at all the stuff countycomm has and will probably get a bunch of stuff from the to fill my organizer.

I just picked up an AARP labeled "organizer" from St. Vinnies for 50 cents. Three exterior pockets, one larger main pocket. Even came with a removeable shoulder strap. Before that, I was using a different 25 cent thing.

Hey noodle, out of curiosity, have you ever weighed your organizer with it loaded (as you usually load it)? Do you pocket or bag carry it?

These all seem to be designed to fit into cargo pants. The one pair of cargos I have has ginormous pockets.

Do they fit in regular pants, front pocket carry, like khakis, etc.?

I'd like to find something large enough for a pen and pad yet small enough to fit in my back pocket.

I have not weighed it. These days I carry it in a Maxpedition Larkspur (messenger bag) or Operator Tactical Attache (there's a real mall ninja name). I just carry pens, sharpie, Tide pen, etc. in it.
