So far my EDC is a Spyderco Centofante 3,one of the USA made Schrade Old Timers and a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker. Now the deluxe tinker is good and all but i keep feeling the need for a plier based multitool. At the moment im trying to decide between the Leatherman Blast or S2 Juice.the Blast is bigger and heavier but I like the added tools.which would you choose?

I like the Blast too,the zytel edged handles look like they'd be pretty comfortable. But then i start to look at the Wave and wonder what it has over the blast?

I think they are both good, but my favorite multitool is the Victonox Swisstool. Its big and bulky but has many tools and is very high quality. I've owned many Gerbers and Leathermans and the Swisstool is my favorite.

I just wanted to mention that my carry system will just be putting it in my pocket, not in a sheath and my budget is around $170au

Victorinox Spirit. It is smaller and lighter than the Swisstool, but doesn't give up much strength or any utility.

I've edc'd one for several years now. It is so good (for me) that I have given or traded away my other multitools except for a Juice Pro that stays in my work bag and an old Super Tool that stays in the car.

I'd go with the blast, because I'd like the added tools like you said. But then again I edced a charge for quite a while a year ago, until I realized that I had no real use for pliers in my everyday life.

I have a second part time job, doing lights and audio setup at a fairly large theatre.i've found that i need pliers quite often there,so i've often had to ask my supervisor to borrow his multitool (a Leatherman Wave). So if i could get one that will work for EDC and for heavier duty plier work i'm happy.

My favorite multitools are the Leatherman Supertool 300 and the Charge series. The Wave is actually a nice set too, I have one of those and it rides in my glovebox all the time. It is compatible with the bit kits as well and has lots of useability.

My preference for the Supertool 300 is because it has the 154CM hard wire cutters (removeable).

Would you say the blast is essentially a wave, but with no serrated blade and all of the tools are on the inside?

Yes, I think this is accurate. I have both a Wave and Blast, and I don't find the Wave to be any better unless you are looking for one handed knife opening. The Blast is a good tool. The Wave is a good tool, but overpriced IMO.

In a word, yes. The Wave is not overpriced though in my opinion. I found mind on a large auction site for a reasonably priced, new in box, with sheath, and full 25 year warranty. The markups on retail sites are at times a bit much. What more could a person ask for?
