I do some work on a ranch when I'm not in classes at college. I already have a few folders (buck, case) but I wanted to try a fixed blade. I don't need anything too huge as I'd like to try to carry it pretty often. My budget is roughly $100 so I'm looking for something more on the budget end. I've looked at mora and esee but I really like wood and leather sheaths. I want something I can belt carry. I've also looked at bsp and green river and liked the green rivers but I do not have the resources to make a handle (if anyone knows where i could get one with quality handle that'd be nice). Sorry this message is so lengthy and niche but thanks for your help, I can provide more info if needed.

How big?
Like ESEE Izula2 size or something more substantial? Do you want serrations?
Around that size maybe slightly bigger, I'd say 6.75- around 10 inches total length, maybe slightly larger but not by much. I domt need serrations, i sometimes carry a leatherman so that would rectify that.

Here's a link to a BF supporting dealer who sells various Dexter-Russell Green River knives:

Finding a sheath shouldn't be too hard, just google search for leather sheath for fixed blade and find one to your liking.

But, I would also look to Buck for a good traditional fixed in your price range.

It seems like there's a lot of votes for Buck which makes complete sense they seem great! I'm just curious what is your opinion of green river knives? Do you think they are nice? Would they be good for my uses?

Do they make any small enough to edc?
Yes several come to mind... others will add ones I've missed.
102,105, Vangard ( may be over your budget a bit) 119, 103 as mentioned.
On belt now is Small Maxlite (there is a larger size) I also carry the 113, and in my front pocket is the Alpha Scout.

Those all look very nice. It seems like with Buck I can just choose the style I like and I can't go wrong (correct me if I am wrong). Do you have a favorite one or shape?

Interesting! I'd have to look at both of those. Have you carried them? They seem very nice
Yes I carry 212’s a lot. Really nice knife the sheath has some issues. The 103 modified to a clip point is better than a 212 IMHO. The 103 is significantly cheaper and has a better sheath.

See this thread for info and pictures of both.
