EDC - Real Strider or Buck Strider?

Hey All,

I've been hunting for a new EDC knife after getting my Benchmade CQC-7 confiscated at the airport (long story, just home from a one year deployment in the Army, still had it in my bag, dickhead DHS mallninja).

I've kinda got my heart set on a Strider, but I'm trying to decide between the Buck Strider Military or a real SnG. This will be my everyday knife, that I use day in and day out.

I can afford either, so is the real SnG worth the extra couple hundred bucks? The knife whore in me is lusting after the strider, as I've always wanted a custom emerson, and a real strider might fill the "custom" need, but I know buck makes a decent everyday knife too, and it's much less expensive.

Suggestions?

Get yourself a REAL Strider!! You will be extremely happy that you did. YES, in my opnion, the Strider IS soooo worth it!!

yeah...i fyou get the buck/strider you'll still think about the sng... if you get the sng you're likely to forget the buck/strider. but you will start thinkning about an smf...

It would be so much easier for me to get a Buck Strider, but i'll hold out for the day i can get my hands on an SnG, its just life.

I got the buck first and then about a month later I got the sng, all the buck seems to do is make you wish you had the real one even more. That is if you would spend that kind of money and you sound like you will. But yes sir the real thing always beats a fake.

Get the real deal, if you don't like it, I'm sure you won't have trouble selling it or trading it on these forums.

I bought a Buck/Strider 880, loved it, then got a Strider SnG, love it too. Both are great but I Had to get the Strider Sng!

Refering to the Buck I say "I can't believe how great this thing is for the money!"

Refering to the Strider SnG I take one look at the pivot pin and can only say "Wwwoowwww"

Rick

P.S...I quit smoking and I'm socking away money so I can get an A.R as welll....theres no helping me...I'm a freak!!! Look at the size of the liner on that thing....Wwwwoowwww!

I'll be the voice of excpetion, get the lesser expensive Buck to make sure you like it first. If you still want the real thing then get that later, but be warned, it's been my experience that if you happen to expect custom levels of fit and finishing, you might be disapointed with "the real thing".

Get the SNG, call Strider direct, they have a military discount, hell take a look at the SMF

yup.. and an AR, and a fixed blade.. you sure you want to do this???

I carry a large Buck/Strider spearpoint when I'm not at work. It's one of the first 500 with the BG42 blades. I love it. My only real Strider folder is a Coogler customized AR, and it gets carried in a Lifter leather belt sheath, but that's not everyday.

i got a buck /strider 880 when they first came out, its a good knife, i thought it was a cheaper rendition of the strider GB, recently got an AR and its about 30% larger than the 880, wow, a lot of knife for sure lol, makes the 880 look puny.

i would get an SnG myself, not only are they better made imho vs the buck (though the bucks not shabby) they really hold there resale value well, ya wont ever regret it imho.
