EDC Screws

I tried a search on this but couldn't find what I needed. I was going to take apart my EDC last night to clean it out and lube the pivot but I can't seem to find the right size allen. I have a standard allen wrench set and I can find the right size for the pivot, but the smaller screws holding the knife together seem to be metric or something. That can't be right, can it? Thanks.
 
There was a post earlier here on what you need. I seem to recall a T6, a T8 and an allen key but I could not find the post to list the sizes either.


I am curious as to what is required to take off the thumbstud on the blade. Why would I want to do this you ask? Well I was going to take all the black bits off my new EDC and put them on my Anniversery Edition EDC for a total black knife, make it sort of a stealth model of the EDC and the post some pics. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep, thats it.

The EDC is a great little knife but the screws on it are just goofy.
As I recall you need a T6 for the pocket clip, a SAE hex head for the pivot, and a Metric hex head for the body.

I cannot imagine why anybody would do this, especialy using a T6 specialty head on the ostensibly removable pocket clip.

You need a T6and a T8 to take your EDC apart. The T8 works at the pivot.

The T8 works to remove the thumbstud.

You can take the EDC totally apart with a T6 and T8.
I had a delima with my clip and had a time finding the bits. Many suggested the Benchmade Blue box. I found hardened torx bits at Sears and they hold up very well.

Geez...you would think that you'd use an allen wrench on allen screws, but I guess not...:rolleyes: . Yeah, Dean, T6/T8 worked great and I remember you asking a similar question about screws too. There's just so much stuff written about the EDC I couldn't find it in the mess. Thanks guys.

Hey Will, are those screws really made for the Torx type drivers, or is it just luck that they fit and they're really standard and metric allens? Any reason for that?
