I like to take a main blade and a smaller back up when out in the sticks.
During the drier months I carry a D2 and a 1095 blade but for the wetter months switch to a stainless combo!
I just wondered if anybody else follows this method?

well I have not realy thought about it, but you make a good point. When I use a carbon blade, I just try to take a little more care with it to make sure it stays as dry as possible. John

I know what your saying John and I do believe carbon blades are best but I'm often in a hurry and when I get in just chuck my stuff on the side and dash off again. So for me this method seems logical!

I also alternate, I carry smaller knives like my BM 530 or black blur in the summer, shorts and all, but I move on to larger knives in the winter like my skirmish

In the summer I tend to carry my knives with titanium or aluminum handles and bone( or natural handle) or G10 in the winter. It seems to feel a little better grabbing G10 in 20 degree weather without gloves on.

That make a lot of sence, and a lot of people dont have the time to wipe their blades down after use. In this case I would go with something along the Beker knives or ever Cold Steel's Recon tanto or SRK. The coating on my Cold Steel Recon and Becker have held up realy good, and I let them get pretty grimmy when I have had a few to drink when out camping ;). To be honest I dont think I own a fixed blade that is Stainless anymore. I did have a Buck 119 ( and even this morning thought about going to the strore and get a quick Buck fix :D ) and It is a tough knife. The 420HC does pretty good on field work. If you have not tried them give it a shot. Well worth the $ IMHO. John

I don't own a Buck but my son has a small Buck folder.I do like the look of the Omni Hunters as a cheap do it all camp knife !
