I've been checking out (read: drooling on) the SC on the TAD web site. However, at the price and with all the accessories it seems like more of a collectors package, not an EDC package. After all if ones intent was to buy, carry, and use, you would open the box, put the knife in your pocket and stuff all the rest of the stuff in the closet where it will eventually be found by the wife and thrown out. The serial number special logo and extra stuff dont really do much for you. When you look at it from that perspective basically what you're doing is paying a 200% premium price to add a 1/4 inch to a regular commander. Kinda steep IMO.

Is anyone out there planning on using and abusing and EDCing a TAD SC? Or is just something for the collectors?

I havn't decided what I will do with it when I buy one. Maby put a saddle on it and ride it to work or something:D . It'll look good in you collection either way.

When you get right down to it and look at the actual cost to make a knife, most knives are way overpriced. There are other issues that go into the cost of the knife, the name of the company or maker is one of them, design, demand..... In this case, it will be a limited run much the way the elusive 98' Commander is. The Super Commander is to have the same specs as the 98' Commander, essentially Emerson Custom dimensions. Taking into account the fact that a rather beat up 98 Commander will still get you original MSRP or a bit better, the Super Commander doesn't appear to be going at a 200% premium. You will get your original investment back and most likely more on down the road.

As to will I carry mine? Absolutley!:D

If the SC is done to ´98 specs here is antoher (soon-to-be) owner that will carry it. I live only once so why not enjoy the ride :)

Has Emerson now confirmed that the SC will be built to '98 specs? The last I recall reading about this here is that the final specifications had not been decided on yet.

Size? I'll let you know next month when I get my green handled monster! Can't wait to carry it!!!Big Wave Dave OUT:D

I cancelled my order after I discovered it was not built to '98 specs, (thinner-post '98 liners)! If you are correct that it is built on the original '98 specs I'm putting my order in again and put my original EMS1 back in the safe!

Thanks...

No official word on the Specs. TAD is picking up the prototype at the SHOT and will post pictures. Preliminary indications are they would be ready in March?

My apologies if I was wrong about the specs. for the Super Commander. That was the last information I had heard when I placed my order. I haven't been following it closely. Even if it ends up with the current factory specs, it will still grow in it's aftermarket value.
