So who is into edc tools and carry items? I myself like small prybars, zipper pull, pendants. Materials I like are Titanium Zirconium, Tecu copper, and Mokuti / Timascus

I've had a old Sear's 4-Way keychain screw driver in my wallet since I was a kid in the 50's. Been darn handy quite a few trims as a small pry tool and screw driver. The smaller 'bit on it also handles phillips screws very well. The P-38 I got when I joined the army not long after high school in the 60's, and it has a lot of different functions. The keychain screw driver and P-38 have taken care of a lot of jobs in a lot of places. I'd never be without them.

Well.... You've come to the right place.

Take a look at the "what are you carrying today" thread here and you'll see a bunch.

Picture below is what I generally have on me during the weekends... Firearm and knives are essentials, on top of that though I love the Swiss army tinker. It's the perfect Swiss Army knife in my eyes. I use it literally every single day at work and many days at home, I never leave home without it. The small blade on it is perfect, plus the screw drivers and bottle/can opener.... Just perfect.

Aside from that I have a mini pry bar on my key chain that also has a thin dull edge perfect for opening standard taped boxes.

I also have a nice $80 leatherman but I don't carry that much right now. Technically at work I'm not allowed to have anything except my work approved utility knife, so my other stuff has to stay hidden in the pocket and there's no room for the leatherman. If it was in the belt sheath it would show too easily. I actually use the sheath that came with the leatherman for an extra magazine holder for my Glock 19 since it actually fits Glock double stack magazines perfectly. If I am going hiking though it would definitely be on my belt.

Definitely into flashlights too, as many are here. I only have 2 lights I consider quality lights, but probably have a dozen $15-$20 consumer quality lights as well. Just got a Streamlight 260 lumen tactical light, and I'm looking to get another high output light soon from eagletac or Fenix. The two I'm looking at are around 1000/900 lumens on turbo mode which is crazy. Looking forward to seeing how bright that is outside my house at night.

Basically, I just like being prepared. As for the firearm and stuff... I strongly believe in the right to self preservation to put it in a basic way. Criminal shit bags have guns, crazy people have guns, no matter what the laws say. Criminals and crazy people don't follow laws. I carry a firearm because I refuse to be a victim and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ended up in a situation where I was over powered by people who then harmed the loved ones I was with. That does not mean I want to pretend to be a cop or that I am looking for a reason to use my gun like many haters will say. If someone's robbing a store I'm in for money... I really don't give a shit to be honest, as long as it doesn't look like that person is about to kill someone I'm not getting involved. However putting me or my loved ones life in danger that's a different story.

As for the knives, it's just another hobby. I absolutely respect the knife as a possible defensive/offensive weapon IF necessary as a last resort, however I mainly view blades as tools that I can put my own style and preferences into.

The end :)

This is largely in the category of Man Jewelry. On one end of the spectrum is pure utility, and on the other end one finds blingy toys. I like them all, but am far closer to the utility end of the scale. I generally get my jollies from getting the most utility out of the smallest item. This does not always result in small toys, but rather the smallest that allow me to have good utility. Small also allows one to carry more toys. I mean tools.

Under one pound, but adequate for my reasonable needs.

As for tools, I was totally into Atwoods back in the day, but have largely gotten away from them.

Carl's heard this story so many time, he could recite it by memory... Anyway... I was chit-chating about knives and such with a senior guy at work and I showed him my Micra and he told me flatly I would get more use from it if I took it off my key ring and put it in my pocket. Later that month, I found myself at a wedding with cold beer in my hand and no bottle opener. I walked into the farm house, found my jacket, got my keys, took the Micra off the ring and put in my LFP where it's ridden ever since.

EDC blade of choice in my RFP. Micra in LFP. Full sized MT in my day pack.

I carry a variety of tools on me, most are carried in sheaths attached to my motorcycle boots. I carry an adjustable wrench, a pair of adjustable pliers, a backup 1 AA Fenix flashlight, and an assortment of Wiha micro drivers with magnetic bit holder (pictured below).

I made the leather "roll" for the bits (the "roll" folds up and fits inside the Altoids tin), and there are nine more bits inside the hollow handle of the bit holder.

At some point I'm going to add a modified Leatherman Micra (other tools removed, just the scissors remaining) to my "boot tools".

I also carry a Leatherman Squirt, and a 1AA Klarus flashlight in my pockets.

My EDC tools fall into the utility range, depending on the day and the job. I like having a few things around, less now that there are few uses for an adjustable wrench for me at work these days. Trees tend not to need tightening or adjusting! Most used is a light, never without one my fenixes somewhere, great in a country where reaching into dark places is a bad idea. Apart from blades, the only screwdrivers I worry about these days are for eye glasses. they come in handy from time to time. I've also found scissors to get nearly as much use as a regular blade, and they are a better tool often enough that I do my best to keep some type of scissors around pretty well all the time.

I've been carrying a Nite-Ize Doohickey (second version) on my keychain to see if it could earn its keep. Hasn't so far in several months. Just not working out, I guess. On a different keyring, I have Gerber (?) Shard, which has proven just as useless. These are clever ideas, but they're nonstarters for me. I should have known. Years ago, I briefly tried using a P-38 can opener as an EDC pocket-tool. Ditto for results.

I should just save my money. Tiime for a purge!

I do like those nite ize keychain tools. I have 2 of the doohickey ones, I think they're both called that but they're a bit different. One is like a key and the other looks like a mini pry bar. Both have come in handy multiple times. I keep them on my two sets of keys. Good stuff.

Depends on what you use I guess. I used to work with a guy who had about four of those type of tools on his keys, making the ring stupid heavy, also more than a bit hazardous when he tossed it, since a couple of the tools had blades, and they tended to swing open. since there were no remotes or anything on it to protect it, I'd just let it hit the ground. Better than taking a blade to the hand. he used them all though.
