So the thing is on the pics. I'm from out the US (Russia), so I can't understand what it is. :)

I've got IG account and follow lots of gear nuts from all over the world icluding US and Canada. And all of them have such animal-like EDC tools, bottle openers, whatever. Vox snailors, rapid weasels, hedgehogs, octopuses, armadillos and great lots of different similar tools.
We even have some russian ones - bears. It gets more and more popular.

I'm looking for more information about this stuff but can't find anything generalized about this phenomenon. :( Only pics with tools of specific brand and tool.

Maybe you can give me some links to some general info about that?
Or maybe you can tell me when did it start and what kind of tool was the first?
It looks great! But why it gets more and more popular? :) Do u have something like that?

Thanks for all the answers and any help!

I was not aware of this before, but I like the idea. I wouldn't mind picking something up.

This tools just blowed my mind up! I don't know what to say more. A don't even know how to call it correctly. Animal-tools? :-)

They could be versatile and useful on the keys, indeed. I haven´t seen these items before. But I like the idea of it. Especially the animals are kinda neat.

I know there are several available at Böker - made by Vox Knives or Böker Plus and some are made by CRKT and many others.

EDIT: Welcome to the Forums :) - Здравствуйте

Yeah, I think CRKT Tools are rather well known. Especially this EDC-spoon:

But this titanium animals are something special ! Maybe Vox Snailor was kind of progenitor?

People spend hundreds of dollars for "custom" bottle openers, especially if they are rare or discontinued.
Call me hater, but I find that stupid. It's your money so if that's what you like, then good, but I rather buy knives. :)

Those custom tools probably do come in handy in some situations but I cannot justify spending 100's neither. Some of them are pretty cool pieces of art, no doubt.
I do however spend hundreds if not thousands on other items such as knives, tactical pens, ecig mods, etc.. So I wouldn't call it " Stupid, " by any means.
Here is what I carry and it comes in handy in many situations. It will open bottles like no other. I paid 4 bucks on amazon, but it is currently 2.50.. For the price, it would be hard to argue.

Well, I did put it in a little too harsh tone I admit. :)
And yes, it is definitely relative thing. I see eyes rolling and gasping when I tell about the knife prices to non-knife people.
