Hi! I put this post on the general forum but maybe I should have posted it here.I just ordered a EDC anniversary model should I just keep it in it's box and look at from time to time or use it as a real EDC? Thanks

Thats a good question, I was thinking the same thing. I ordered one on Friday and I had intended to carry it daily. Would that be akin to committing a sin?

looking forward to your opinions.

I won't speak for anyone else but IMHO it would be a sin not to use the Anniversary EDC.

I suspect that it would take hard use to mar the Handle finish.

Good question. That is why I bought 2 and I still haven't used them. Why? I have been using the regualr one with 154CM steel. I figured I would wait to wear it out. Probably will be a long wait.

When folks ask about using a knife or not I tell them:

If you feel like some of the joy of owning the knife would be lost if you DON'T use it then use it. If you don't care or just bought them as investments then store them

I have higher end knives that I will never use. I have no emotional attachment to these knives. They are just investments. I have Ed Fowler knives that I use daily because if Ed finds out I am not using them he might beat me up.....lol ;)

I use the EDC 'cause it is just a GREAT knife. IMHO you will miss out on something pretty special.

Good luck with your decision.

My .02 cents worth. I would not use the anniversary version. With only 1000 being made and commemmorating Camillus' 125th, I view it as a collectable. Mine is put away with my personal collection. I would rather buy the original EDC for Fifty bucks and use that. Just my opinion.

I have a question:

I have a Cuda EDC with the 154CM steel. The blade is marked "1 of 500". Is this a "collectors' knife"? (It looks like a "standard" EDC in everyother respect.).

I would say not in a "collector" sense. This was a limited run of knives made just for 1SKS. 1SKS could re-order another run. Depends on what kind of deal, if any, they made with Camillus. Again, just my .02 worth. (Now I'm almost broke.;) !)

Use don't abuse! Joy from using it will far outweigh any increase in value you could receive in the next ten years and IF it did increase in value & IF the knife is in good condition you would still be able to realize a profit. My thoughts! Collector value of production knives is generally a very long term proposition during which time you could be enjoying using it.

I understand why this is a hard desision. I had the same problem. I bought a regular 154-cm model, and nex week I am buying an anniversary edition. I will use the regular one till it is run into the ground. The anniversary model will never be used. BTW, I like this knife more than any I have ever owned.

Part of the problem is that there are way too many EDC choices (this is a good thing btw :)):
EDC with 420hc
EDC combo or plain
EDC with 154CM
EDC Anniversary
EDC talonite

What Cheryl said regarding the anniversary edition of only 1000 peices is true but what about the Blade Forums 154cm knife? There are only 500 of those and we don't have a problem using that knife.

Will there be any more 154CM knives that were marked 1 of 500?

Thanks,

Can we be sure there are only 500 for BF? I bought mine from the Knifecenter. Unless they have their own special run. I'm a bit curious now. I don't think anyone is trying to get over on us. There is possibly a small case of miscommunication involved. Anyone out there have the answer?

Will said that Mike Turber sold them to the Knife Center but as far as I know only 500 were made. Perhaps when Will sees this he will let us know.

I would buy one to use on dress occasions, one to keep and one for general use! If I had the cash! Which I don't:(

I use on of my Formite 154CM EDC models and keep the other boxed.

Just got my EDC anniversery edition, good looking knife. I will carry it with me every day, a knife is made to be used and not just looked at. I would like to get a plain 154CM EDC but one stop is difficult to deal with for shipments to Canada.

I just received my 125th anniversary EDC,

The fancy box went in the garbage and the knife went into my front right pocket.
It could very well be a collectable but I can think of a lot of better ways to invest $90.
One thing it is is a great looking carry knife.
